Mac Filtering

Hello I'm trying to mac filter some of my devices to force it to use the 2.4ghz wifi instead of the 5ghz because it slows down my web browsing

I try it on my appletv or another device, and it just allows it on all including the 5ghz.

When I had Xfinity I could mac filter easily, but here it doesn't seem to work and I think I might want to switch back.

We're here to help clear up any confusion, @TempUsername2020.

The MAC address filtering feature in our provided gateways is not meant to limit devices from connecting to certain networks. It is used as an added security feature to create a whitelist of devices that your gateway will allow to connect.

If you're trying to control what WiFi frequency your devices connect to, you will need to separate the WiFi bands to turn off band steering. You can do this using our Smart Home Manager by changing one of the WiFi frequency's name (SSID). For example, adding "_5G" to the end of the 5G band's SSID will let you select between the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz WiFi bands when connecting devices.

Let us know if this helps.
