Internet on Devices goes in and out after installing Google Nest Wifi

I have a Pace 5268 Router, Every since I installed the Google Nest Wifi, the internet on the wifi will drop on various devices like my laptop and cell phone.  It states that it's connected to the wifi but there's no internet. After I disconnect from the wifi and reconnect, the internet on the wifi will work. This happens several times per day. I have turned off the wifi 2.4 and 5.0 on the Pace 5268 Router. I did not have this problem before installing the google nest wifi.

Is there anything that I can do to fix the problem?

We're here to help @MikeChiLee, you devices losing connection.

  • Are you getting a good connection?
  • How are your devices connected?
  • When you stated when you disconnect are you disconnecting from the router itself or your google nest device?
  • Have you tried rebooting the WiFi?

Please let us know so we can better assist you.

- I am getting a good connection

- I think all the devices are connected via Google Nest Wifi which is directed connected to the router by a ethernet cable.

- I am disconnecting from the google next wifi and reconnecting

- Yes, I have rebooted the wifi.

I notice that the internet drops from the wifi more often when alot of devices are connected to the google nest wife.

What did you do with the 5268 other than turning off the WI-Fi?

  • Did you configure DMZplus for the Nest device (you should)?
  • Is the DHCP renewal still set for 10 minutes (I'd extend it)?

I'd also set up a reserved IP address for the Nest so it stays at that address.

I'm not sure how to configure the DMZ Plus or how to set the DHCP Renewal.

I've turned off the 2.4 and 5.0 wifi on the Pace Router.

One more thing. When the internet goes out, wifi shows that it's still connected but there's no internet. I just disconnect / reconnect from the wifi and then have internet again.

Hi, @MikeChiLee.

Do you have disconnects on the Wi-Fi, when you do not have the Google Nest connected?

Here is more information about DMZ Plus. This will help you configure your gateway, you can set this up with any third party device.

Let us know if this works.

If connecting/disconnecting from your 3rd party router's Wi-Fi fixes your issue, then you may be talking to the wrong people; you should be talking to the manufacturer of that router.  If, on the other hand, it fixes itself in about the same amount of time as resetting your connection (i.e. disconnecting/reconnecting isn't necessary but keeps you busy long enough), then it could be an issue between the Router and the Gateway.  I mentioned the DHCP renewal as one such possibility.

Do you know how to do a tracert?  What does that show when you're having this issue?

There are no disconnects prior to connecting to the Google Nest. I was using wifi from the Pace router. I previously did configure the DMZ Plus. I didn't know what it was called.

How do I setup a DHCP renewal?

@MikeChiLee

The article that Marc sent covers DHCP. Give it a look and let us know if you still need assistance.
