Internet disconnecting multiple times an hour for the past week

Orange County, CA.  Over the past week, I've noticed my internet drops for about 30 seconds to a minute before reconnecting.  Every hour I disconnect at least 3 times, no exaggeration.   My computer has a wired ethernet connection.   Is there a solution that I can implement myself, or would calling a technician be the next step?

@b4ssfox the field tech that visited me today mentioned his other ATT customer he was helping was also from buena park (could possibly be you). he did mention that he'd work with his team and manager at the dispatch center because he's noticed this has been a growing concern in our area. he said he'd give me a call this coming monday or tuesday to give an update so if i end up hearing from him ill share it here. this is really unfortunate for all of us because there is a pattern here yet no action from ATT.

@itchikneesan For tracking, I just found a simple CMD prompt script to ping google.com every 10 seconds and write the results to a text file. The results I posted were filtered to show just the fails.

@michaelngopo Your log is SPOT on with mine with the disconnections today, matching to almost each minute.  I felt like I was going crazy disconnecting from each of my meetings in the afternoon today.

Welcome to all my OC neighbors that are also experiencing issues! I'm glad there's more of us out there that are trying to troubleshoot this issue, but it REALLY seems like the onus is on AT&T.

I'd say to continue calling them in order to raise awareness. Here is the line to the AT&T Customer Service, I was able to get through to a real person each time by going through the prompts and explaining the disconnection problem: 1-800-288-2020

@ATTHelp

Tagging you ATTHelp. Look at this thread. Please, there is need to be serious action/investigation to resolve this for your Orange County, CA customers. We've been paying for expected service for a few months (some longer) and not receiving adequate responses. Some of us have taken upon ourselves to troubleshoot and determined it to be only resolved at your end. @ATTHelp please take notice and take action.

Nice try, but mentioning ATTHelp doesn't actually do anything (unlike mentioning most people), and they're already active in this thread.  Please do respond to any requests they make so that no ticket gets held up because the "customer didn't respond."

One thing I'm going to pop in here for prosperity, because eventually they will fix this problem and this thread will go idle... but people can stumble on it and read it potentially for years and get the wrong idea:  Some of the evidence of a systemic issue is only substantial evidence because there are several people in the same area reporting a similar problem and other causes have already been eliminated.  An occasional missed response from google isn't necessarily cause for action by AT&T.  In this case we have a dozen people, many of whom have already replaced their gateway, had their lines checked, etc. and have been observing issues with many Internet sites for a period of weeks.  As you can see at the beginning of this thread, we needed to eliminate a lot of other potential causes first.

Don't want to jinx anything, but has anyone else experienced **no** disconnections for the past 2 days?  I can only attest for 7:30 P.M. until midnight.

@tobiguth Omg, okay I didn't want to be that user, but I also think the internet is getting better..? I was actually able to game last night from 10:50 - 12am with no drops, which is extremely rare with how intermittent the internet has been the past month. Today, I finally setup a batch script to ping google.com every 10 seconds and the log only shows 2 packet losses, at 12:54 and 12:59. And that's been running from 12:21 to 5:30pm so far.

How has the internet been for y'all? I'm honestly sort of expecting it to (Edited per community guidelines) out again starting tomorrow but it's been nice getting to reexperience for 2 days how internet is supposed to be... :')

Update edit: Looks like I had another packet loss at 6:58pm, but pretty good thus far. Also wasn't expecting the common word for "passing gas" to get censored out, haha.

I will also leave this to keep tracking until midnight to see if anything worsens/if our drops match, etc.

Another packet loss at 8:44pm.

Hey guys, I haven't noticed any disconnects so far this weekend either. It has been genuinely relieving to watch videos and play video games again with zero disconnects. I really hope the issue is resolved since I have to take my finals this week, and if I disconnect in the middle of my finals that would be quite tragic. I guess we can all just hope for the best. :)

Been running my batch script since 11:17am and I've only got 1 packet loss at 3:29pm! My Zoom call at noon didn't disconnect either. Things are looking a lot better. I have no idea what happened but I hope it stays this way...
