I need recommendations for Network extender

I have a new AT&T modem/router it works okay for part of the house, but doesn't have much range. I need a recommendation that will work with it.
brand and model number please....

Which router did AT&T install for you? We have a 2000 sq foot house and are running the NVG589 router that came with our service, its in our living room (middle floor) and it has no problems hitting the basement or third floor (even on wireless). Speeds are consistent, 14-22mbps down and around 3mbps up. You may want to check out that router first prior to investing in a range extender.

Thank you all for your contributions. The structure of the house is definitely an issue. I moved the equipment as much as possible, and added a network extender. I was able to reach the far end of the house, but with very poor bandwidth.
The only other improvement would be to move the modem and router from the basement, where the installers placed it, to a central location in the house.
In order to do that, I need a TV jack and coaxial cable near each other. Unfortunately, nowhere else in the house is there both anywhere near each other.
Even with good connection, the bandwidth is not sufficient for gaming, streaming and surfing.
Since I recently had Cox, and fantastic bandwidth, I am taking my internet back to them.
I am trying to keep Uverse TV only.
I can't blame the problem on the switch to Frontier, this predates the switch and "Max" internet, just isn't enough bandwidth.
