How to Bridge PACE 5031 NV to 3rd Party Router?

People say it's a lot like the 2Wire 3600, but the menus don't look the same to me.

I Happily follow instructions with screenshots.

My local tech geek is not able to handle this for some reason... Help?

This discussion has been quite helpful, thank you all for the pointers.

I have tried to follow these directions and have set up my ATT modem (Pace Plc 5031NV-030) so that my new wireless router is set to be the designated DMZ for the firewall. I even set a narrow ip range for the addresses for the dhcp server on the ATT modem.

At this point I can connect to the new router and can get websites such as google and yahoo, but it will not allow access to anything else. At this point I am not sure what else to do.

I thought about setting up the ATT modem so that the new router is a cascaded router or an additional network, but I am not sure how to configure the settings.

I seem to have sorted it out. I read in another forum to do a factory reset of the modem and then set the new router to the DMZ for the firewall. I tried that, and it seems to be working fine now.

Although I am not familiar with your router, If it recognizes the traceroute command, then use the traceroute command to check connectivity through each network hop to google.com or some other Internet destination.  The traceroute will show you the router address that drops your ICMP PING request.  Traceroute syntax goes like this on most routers: "traceroute google.com" or "traceroute 74.125.227.229" if DNS is not available.

Also, from a networking perspective, your DMZ network will have to be configured to route to the ATT Internet address on the Pace.  However, the Pace 5301 appears to only allow 1 extra routed network, which is used by your ddwrt router.  It looks like you will have manually switch between DMZ mode for direct Internet connectivity on 1 computer or "cascaded router mode"

I found where one can cascade a second router with the AT&T (Pace) 5031 NV gateway.

1. Use http://192.168.1.254 to get into the gateway settings.

2. Select "Settings".

3. Select "Broadband".

4. Select "Link Configuration".

5. Look for "supplementalry Network"

One of the options is to "Add Cascaded Router"

Please help, I'm able to do everything except step 8 where it says:
"(make sure the firewall on your router allows the DHCP renewal packets, which will occur every 10 minutes)" but I don't see any settings for that in the Luxul ABR4400 router.
It also says: "or you can change your router's IP address assignment on the WAN interface to static, and use the same settings it received via DHCP."
So, should I set the WAN IP on the Luxul to static and use IP address from the DHCP range of ATT gateway and also subnet and DNS from the ATT? That's where I'm bit lost.
Thank you!

Sorry, I am just now reading this.  Do you still have questions?

So, if you use this, is this similar to IP passthrough or bridge and what should be in the network address and subnet mask fields?

P.S. I am trying to bridge a TP-Link Archer C7 to the Pace 5031NV. Any help would be appreciated.

Right now the only change I've made to the gateway is to turn the wifi off. It's currently all working, but I have no idea of it is working optimally.

@RxCowboy   Hope these instructions from Computer Joe help for 2wire/Pace/Arris RG's like yours:

This is what I did to use an "internal" router. I set my "internal" router to use DHCP for the WAN address, plugged it's WAN port in to the RG, reboot the "internal" router, let the RG assign a local address to the "internal" router and then set that address to the DMZ in the RG's management interface. When I go to the "internal" router's management interface it shows as having the same WAN, gateway, and DNS addresses that the RG uses.

I set the "internal" router to assign addresses to "my" side of the network in a different IP range than what the RG uses (192.168.2.* instead of 192.168.1.*) but using the same subnet mask (255.255.255.0). My internet works fine with no interuptions and local network tasks (back ups, streaming, etc.) work as expected.

I can also still access the RG from "my" side of the network when I need to without having to change any network settings or swap any cables. Leave DHCP running on the RG. You do not need to disable the firewall in the RG as the DMZ will open a pinhole through it to the address you pick (your internal router). If you have existing wireless on your router that your satisfied with and want to keep, just make sure to turn off the wireless in the RG.

As for the STBs they should be run straight out of the RG with cat5e, cat6A or a WAP.

Uverse RGs can not be bridged, but this is as close as you can get.  Good luck 😉
