What gateway model do you have? Most recent AT&T gateways are dual-band, providing both 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz simultaneously in band-steering mode. The idea is that a device will connect to the 5Ghz network if supported, or to the 2.4Ghz network if necessary. If this is causing problems, you can access the gateway settings through a web browser at 192.168.1.254, and rename the 2.4Ghz network to something unique; you'll then see each network displaying separately.

@davemize
Thanks for your sage advise. I am a bit lost. You say "you can access the gateway settings through a web browser at 192.168.1.254, and rename the 2.4Ghz network to something unique"
I am not sure how to do this. Do I go into my att account? Do I type in 192.168.1.254 to a web browser? Please direct me further. Much appreciated!

This topic is 2 years old and things can change. Please open your own topic and provide the make and model of your gateway. Closing to further posting.
