How do I connect a wired D-Link home security camera to U-verse?
I want to add a home security camera to my ATT U-verse network using an ethernet cable. Problem is you can't simply use an ethernet switch without degrading the signals. So I purchased a D-Link N300 router thinking it would be plug 'n play. Nope, there is no signal getting through to the TV now. Any help on how to configure this would be appreciated. Note, I do not want to use the camera wirelessly.

Yes, a switch may solve your connectivity issues, depending on your specific wiring requirements.
1) You can connect a switch to any port on the RG.
2) You can connect multiple devices that need to the Internet to that switch without restriction (except as noted below),
3) You may connect the AT&T Wireless TV WAP or a TV Receiver (DVR/STB) to a switch, as long as the switch is gigabit capable and you do not also connect some other wireless router or access point. However, it is recommended that you not do not mix Internet and IPTV whenever possible, i.e. connect either devices that need network access or IPTV devices (WAP, DVR, STB) to a single switch, but not both.

You can use Ethernet Switches to connect TV Receivers and devices to the Network, but there are restrictions:
As my thoughts said, you cannot connect a TV Reciever to the vast majority of third party routers.

understand all your comments. I have an ATT
U-verse residential gateway (actually an Arris NVG589) and a Motorola
VAP2500 wireless access point with a cable that runs to a different
location in my house where I want to attach my D-Link security camera. I
purchased a D-Link router to try to solve the problem but it sounds like
you are suggesting a simple ethernet switch would do the trick. Is that
correct?

Thanks for everyone's comments. I got rid of the router and bought a Linksys (SE1500-NP) ethernet switch. It solved the problem. Appreciate your help.
