The BGW 210 like the 599 and 5268 has both 2.4Ghz b/g/n and 5Ghz n/ac has both services using the same SSID / Password for band steering to use the ATT wireless extenders.
If wish to change the factory default settings will need to access the gateway using 192.168.1.254 with a device connected to the gateway. Once on, find the Wi-Fi settings screen, choose ADVANCE settings, change what you desire and be sure to SAVE the change(s).
Warning:Your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network names and passwords must match, and all radios must be enabled with WPA2 security setting, to benefit from the enhanced Wi-Fi technology on your device
Do I have to give them seperate names and passwords?
They're simply trying to keep you from breaking band steering. You can safely make the change, connect the device, then restore band steering. Everything should remain connected.
