Help!! What are the best Routers for the 5268ac modem?

Previously, I was running certain program through Time Warner. I moved and changed to AT&T. I have come to the realization that they are blocking certain links and want to use a separate router while using their modem. Which is a good router (on a budget- speeds up to 300 or 600 mbps - dual band) that I can get that will support their modem? Also, I have heard nightmares of people attempting to bypass the router portion of that modem. Is there a specific way to to bypass it so it works correctly?
