Google Nest Installation

Need to mate a new Google Nest system (router + 3 nodes) to my existing AT&T WiFi (not UVerse).  Not sure which AT&T CF response is most current & correct.  Have ONT box feeding AT&T-provided Arris BGW210-700 router.  Please advise.  For example, should Google router be hard wired directly to the ONT or the Arris (which port?).  Have seen comments about putting Arris in Bridge mode, but AT&T website says it won't work in that configuration.  Easy to get confused; appreciate the help.

We would be happy to help you get your Google Nest installed @newbutlearning!

As far as the physical connections go, the google mesh would be connected to one of the Ethernet ports on the back, there should be 4 but try the 1st one just in case.

We also have a page to help customers setup 3rd part equipment to our gateway. It will help walk you through the gateway settings to get the mesh setup.

Please let us know if this answers your question!

Three comments:

1) I went to the linked article.  It is for a Motorola NVG510 and 589.  I have an AT&T-provided Arris BGW210-700 router.  Do the instructions still apply, and if so which one: DHCPS-dynamic, DHCPS-fixed or Manual.

2) Which router is being put into passthrough mode, the AT&T Router or the Google Nest router?

Separately, the AT&T website implied I could have the AT&T router self-optimize for what's on the 2.4G vs. 5G bands.  When the AT&T technician moved us to fiber he placed everything but the printer on 5G saying it was "what we'd want".  When I tried to run this online optimization it asks which I want as primary; I answer 5G.  The next prompt notes that the printer may need to be reconnected (which is fine) but it won't let me leave that dialog box & perform the optimization.

Household devices are 3 TVs w/Amazon Firesticks, 2 smartphones, 2 tablets, one printer for 2 residents & occasional guests.

Thanks for responding back @newbutlearning!

We do have information based on the Arris BGW210-700 that should help you better.

You will put the AT&T router into pass-through for that part of the setup.

And regarding the printer, you may try unplugging it from power to remove it as a device to complete. You can plug printer back in after.

Let us know if this help you out!
