Foscam FI9831P timeout on connecting via Internet using DDNS - AT&T BGW210 router

I installed a Foscam FI9831P at my kid's home.  Prior to this installation, the Foscam HD camera worked perfectly on my home Frontier router:  MI424WR rev "I" and G1100.  I removed this camera from the working environment on my Frontier router, performed a Factory Reset, then started the new installation on my kid's AT&T BGW210 router.  The Foscam works perfectly on the AT&T BGW210 router's Home Network, via LAN or WiFi; however, when I attempt to use the Foscam-provided DDNS address via internet, I see the camera's login screen, but after entering the password the connection times out.  The DDNS access worked at my home via my Frontier equipment.  When installing the Foscam on the AT&T BGW210 router I tried using four different port assignments. Each time I created a Custom Service entry in the Firewall -> NAT/Gaming "port forwarding" table.  Then I assigned the new service to the Foscam HD camera, which created a Hosted Application.  (I followed the AT&T document that has been suggested by AT&T personnel in many similar "port forwarding" posts on this forum.)  I reset the camera and the router several times each.  I used different Windows 7 Pro PCs, different browsers, changed camera's password, Windows firewall ON and OFF - all SAME RESULTS:  TIMEOUT.  I used an Open Port Test Tool, which showed that each port that I assigned to the camera and to the BGW210 port forwarding entry is CLOSED.  The camera still works perfectly via LAN or WiFi on the Home Network.  I have read many similar posts in this forum, and most state that the port forwarding custom entry automatically opens the designated port.  My designated port is CLOSED.  HOW DO I OPEN A PORT???  Any suggestions?

Thank you very much for the explanation, Mihai.  The "Open Port Test Tool" did show EXACTLY what you mentioned- the port was open for about 10 seconds, then closed. I will monitor the situation and try again in the next few weeks.  John in Dallas

Glad I could be of help @John_in_Dallas!

Should you want to replace the gateway, I’d be more than happy to provide assistance.

Otherwise, an update in the coming weeks should address this issue.

Please let me know what you decide to do, so we can proceed from here!
