Fixed Wireless Internet Says I am in different locations?

Why does the internet think I am in Kentucky when I am no where near there? HELP!

We are here to help find out why your Fixed Wireless internet is showing a different location, @Paraquat.

Can you please answer the following questions, to help us understand what is taking place with your Fixed Wireless location?

  • Have you tried cross-checking the information for your IP Geolocation with a different service, like iplocation.net, to make sure that it's correct?
  • Are you trying to access a VPN?

Please reach back out with the answers to the question.

Hello! Here is the iplocation.net info I just received.

I'm in Michigan, not anywhere near the borders! LOL! Why? Thanks for the help!

Hi @Paraquat, here to help with your Fixed Wireless internet location.

We recommend that you do a factory reset on your modem by following these steps to fix your location:

  1. Locate the Reset button on the rear of the gateway, located directly beside the power input.
  2. Press and hold the button for at least 10 seconds. If you release the button sooner than 10 seconds, the gateway will reboot, but will not reset.
  3. After releasing the button, wait until the device reboots and all the status lights on the gateway are lit. If the reboot was successful, the Broadband and Service status lights will be solid green.

As a reminder, doing a factory reset will delete all your custom settings.

Please reach back out, and let us know if this helps.

Hello, Paraquat.

Location is based on your IP address, which cannot be changed. So that we can determine the best way to proceed, please give us more information.

When you say the Internet thinks you're in another state, what was that based on? Were you shopping online and the wrong state populated, or are you seeing this on your devices?

Yes, every time it ask for or uses my location: "the internet" thinks I'm in columbus Ohio, "somewhere" in Kentucky. No matter what I'm doing. If I ask for something near by I could be in Oklahoma, according to the "internet". I'm in Michigan and my computers don't move on there own that I am aware of. :) What now? Thanks!
