Ethernet connection to STB's
When I moved to a new location, I had my internet and U-verse service transferred. The technician told me that in order to have my wireless STB receivers connected through ethernet cables, each ethernet cable had to be individually run from the receiver to the modem/router. I asked him if I could use a switch and he said no. It would not work, he said. Is this true? My AT&T U-Verse 5268AC has limited ports and this would be a hassle. Right now, I have my DVR sitting next to the modem in my home office next to my PC and the U-Verse wireless link which sends the TV signal to my two other wireless STBs. I would rather have a more direct and reliable signal to my STB than using a rather unreliable wireless system. Can I use a switch to free up ethernet ports on my modem?
