DSL Modem needs to be smarter!

I live in a rural area and DSL (not uverse) is my only option. I recently installed several smart plugs and am now having a nightmare problem getting my laptop to stay connected without restarting the router every day. In addition, everyone in the house is complaining about connection issues. I’m looking for something more powerful than the standard Netgear 7550 that AT&T provides. Has anyone used a TP-Link router with DSL? All of my smart devices (plugs, camera, etc) are TP-Link so i’m assuming that would be the most compatible. I’m open to suggestions.

QueenieCaffeine,

Were these problems experienced as well at the frequency it is currently happening prior to the smart plugs being installed?

In regards to the TP-Link router, you can activate a secondary router onto the network but ours will need to be the primary so the signal can be interpreted properly for usage.

I have consistently experienced connection issues even before installing my smart devices. AT&T had me purchase a new modem recently and that hasn’t resolved the problem.

Since I have poor cell coverage at my home, I use WiFi for my iPhone calls. Even with the new modem (and before the smart plug installation), calls are randomly dropped because the connection to the WiFi is lost.

I’m concerned that spending additional money for a second router as you’ve suggested will not solve the problem.

I would like to get our DSL team involved so that they can further assist with the issues that you're having. They will need to reach out to you to troubleshoot and or setup a dispatch. What is the best number that they can reach you on?
