Download speeds

The att.con/Speedtest shows 18-22Mbps (what I pay for) but if I go to download a PC game update it’s only at a rate of 1.8Mbps. Across different servers. Steam and what not. The connect is Ethernet and through a wall adapter. But even if u plug my laptop right to it. I have the same results. On two different computers. I’m assuming it’s something to do with the gateway configureation. But I’d have no idea on how to fix it.

Hi, @Dh1000.

There are many factors that can impact the speed you receive from the Gateway.

While you may be using a wired connection to the adapter, the adapter can only provide up to the speed it receives over WiFi. We recommend trying to move closer to the Gateway, plugging the Ethernet directly into the Gateway, and making sure that you don't have background applications and devices streaming or using up your bandwidth while you are trying to download.

You can also check out our Troubleshoot & Resolve tool for recommended solutions and diagnostics, and you can utilize our Smart Home Manager to manage your network and check on the health of your WiFi, or see if a WiFi extender may be recommended for you.

Here are some Gateway optimization tips as well.
