Connect smart tv to guest wifi

Can I connect a smart TV to the guest wifi SSID?

In our condo building, I want to set up a guest WIFI SSID, and connect it to a Wifi connector to boost the signal to the social room.  I then want to connect a smart TV to the guest WIFI.  Is this possible?

The instructions for setting up a guest WIFI say that it allows internet access only, but not connections to other devices?

Hey there bdgardam, we can help you with your inquiry about guest Wi-Fi!

If you want to add a Wi-Fi signal booster, such as an AT&T Smart Wi-Fi Extender, it has to be connected to the primary network, not the guest network. As a result, the smart TV won't get the benefit of the Extender.

This is usually the case for Wi-Fi signal boosters across the board, but depending on which one you buy, you may be able to connect it to the guest network.

When it comes to the guest network, as you saw in the instructions for setting it up, it only allows Internet access.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

This is disappointing, and contradicts what I was told on the phone by ATT.  I was told I could connect the wifi extender to the guest network.

How can we accomplish our goals of:

1. Making internet connection available to condo residents in the common area

2. Connecting the smart tv in the social room, where the wifi signal is weak, to the internet.

We apologize for the disappointment, bdgardam!

Residents can connect to your guest network to access the Internet on their devices. You can also connect the TV to the guest network.

When it comes to boosting the signal of the guest network, you will have to look for a Wi-Fi extender that does not have to connect to the primary network.
