The only way is to use the tracking number provided to you when you took the package to UPS, FedEx, USPS. Just go to their respective web site and enter the tracking number. This number is on your receipt. By some chance you hadn't asked for or received a receipt then "Shame on you" then you will have to call 800-288-2020 and ask for customer service, hopefully they should be able to tell you if they received the return or not. Another way to tell is if it has been more than 21 days and they didn't receive it they will start charging you. I hope this helps.

For standard returns through UPS and FedEx

Return your equipment

How to Return U-verse Equipment?

Basically take you stuff to a UPS Store or FedEx along with your account number to return to att.  No cost to you.  But all you get is a receipt.  There is no tracking number and the stuff is not necessarily returned immediately.  Returns are accumulated for a about a week (I hope it's only a week) before they ship what they accumulated back to att.  Moral, don't bring returns in too close to that 21-day limit because just bringing it to be delivered doesn't stop that clock (att's billing computer couldn't care less).

I'm paranoid about this stuff.  What I do is to call att after about one and/or two weeks to make sure att actually has a record of my returns in my account.  Even in the "old days" when there was shipping labels and tracking numbers I did this since a confirmation of physical shipment back to att indicates it  made it back to att on a shipping dock somewhere, but that still doesn't guarantee the information was actually recorded in the account.

Not even that, I have my receipt and I cant get ups store or ATT to tell my tracking number. After playing phone tag to the UPS store to ATT I got that it was returned when it hasn't from ATT. Why cant ATT tell my my tracking number. This concerns me in regards where is the item I sent back? No one can answer my question on where this return item is? There is no tracking number to this item and this item is in limbo and I am suppose to eat the return fee and just believe them they credit my account and havent. When no one can give me a tracking number for this return.

My question is why cant I track my item that I sent back threw UPS Store. No tracking number threw UPS Store they said you need to contact ATT Store to get that information. After being on the phone over 3 to 4 hours no answer. This concerns me, in regards where is this item. If I returned it, No one can give me a tracking number. I have got ATT Store telling me what I want to hear to make me happy. Telling me i got a return and got a credit for the item when I haven't. I am concern they cant give me a tracking number so I feel like I am a number and out somewhere in limbo. I have my receipt and have me reference number I have everything in regards of sending the item back but ATT Store cant tell me what I want to hear..

If you returned product through FedEx or UPS, your receipt has your tracking number on it.

No there is no Tracking number only a Reference number no tracking number.
I call UPS store and they said to call ATT store they can tell me the
tracking number. Well I was on the phone for 3 hour or so and they gave me
two difference numbers in reference of my tracking number. They are not my
tracking number so I need to get to the bottom of this. I believe ATT don't
want to give me a credit of 135.00 because they cant find my tracking
number and the receiver when I went to the UPS store and sent the
receiver back. I guess I will call and find out more information with UPS
store to find out where my receiver is because no one can answer my
tracking number for this receiver. I play back and forth phone calls with
UPS and ATT. Now who would be able to tell me the tracking number on this
receiver because the tracking numbers I got from ATT were not found in the
UPS system or FEDEX when I asked ATT they couldn't give me the correct
tracking numbers. I am concerned in regards of this charge.
Thank you

The UPS store doesn't give you a tracking number. They only provide a receipt and reference number. So don't expect to track your device unless you contact AT&T. I hope this helps.

Why do people assume there is a tracking number. THERE IS NO TRACKING NUMBER PEOPLE ! The receipt only gives a reference number. I'm assuming since it's free shipping, it takes longer for AT&T to receive it. I was told by AT&T corporate these devices can sit in their warehouse for days or weeks waiting to be scanned in because they receive so many devices. Aweful.

I have been dealing with the exact same issue.  HOURS on the phone, many times.  The attached image is what the UPS store provided as a receipt.  AT&T has no record of the return and has no idea what the Return Reference Number is when they look it up.  They keep asking for a tracking number - and try to input the numbers into the UPS site.  I keep telling them it is a number the AT&T system generated and is NOT a tracking number - and UPS says they do NOT provide tracking numbers because they aggregate hundreds of devices together before they are all sent in a large batch to AT&T.  AT&T will not honor my return or this receipt.  This is pure fraud.  I have filed a case with the FCC and I suggest everyone else does so as well.

I just completed verifying with AT&T that my equipment was received. There was no Tracking No. from UPS. Only the AT&T reference no., and you have to call AT&T to verify receipt of equipment. I waited about a week before I called.

After verifying equipment receipt, I also asked the customer service agent how much I would be credited back on my AT&T bill, and she was able to give me that amount. I then asked for the call reference no. to refer to in case there are any surprises down the road.
