configuring my modem

I tried a factory reset but still cant login to my BGW210 even using the device access code printed on the modem itself.

I have internet access but I want to reconfigure this device. Can I change it to bridge mode? I need to change the internal LAN subnet. I want to turn off wifi. I have my own gateway/firewall. I dont need anything but a dumb down modem.

You need to be able to get into the gateway's interface to change it to IP Passthrough mode.  That's as close to a "dumb modem" as you can get with AT&T.

So you can get to the gateway at http://192.168.1.254 but when you try to change anything or even look at certain pages it asks for the Access Code and it's not taking it?  We've seen a lot of this type of issue and most of the time people are inputting the wrong code because of the dumb symbols AT&T uses.  Things like two slashes \/ in succession but people see it as a V (see below).  Take a picture of the label so you can zoom in to make sure you're doing it right.

Another possibility is to try a different browser.  We've seen instances where a different browser worked only to find out that Javascript had been disabled on the first one.

If that isn't it and you've done the full red-button held down for >15 sec factory reset, then I think your next move is to call 800-288-2020 and ask for a replacement gateway.

I used Abe scanner to scan the barcode and this is the code that came back with <#*0<3<*6?

ATTHelp Charles.    🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@garygarren   Since that doesn't look to have too many "possible" characters other than the zero, it's safe to say you aren't getting fooled entering it.

At this point I think you're down to my last suggestion, call and get another one shipped out to you.

I switched from firefox to chrome and was finally able to login and change the stuff I needed to. Strange because I tried a different laptop (windows) using chrome but couldn't login. I switched back to my linux laptop and tried chrome and was finally able to get it. (this is after being on the phone with at&t support for 45min.). Support was nice and tried to help but ultimately it was on me.

I changed it to passthrough.

Changed the password.

Turned off both 2.4 and 5Ghz radios. (I have my own wifi mesh network)

Made sure UPnP was not on.

Made sure remote administration was not enabled.

For now I think I am good to go.

Oh good!  I thought you had already tried the suggestion to try a different browser by the time you made your last post.

Sounds like you're all set!
