Can not connect to new security system
I just got new security system I'm having trouble with. The NVR connects to the network via a ethernet cable, and it's connected to my AT&T Gateway. When you look at the lights on the back (where the ethernet cable plug in, there is no light on, which I think means no power/not connected. How do I get my Gateway to recognize the security system cable, as it does for my AT&T internet?

Which gateway you have there?
The retention clip should engage when inserting the cable connector into one of the yellow ports. Nothing to be done for Ethernet on the gateway side to make it work.

My gateway is Humax BGW320-500, and dvr is connecting to gateway now. Apparently my ethernet for the internet was plugged into wrong port (yellow). When I plugged it in to red ethernet port, then my dvd ethernet cable starting working too, as it's now connected to my network. Who'd have thought? I've never plugged anything into my gateway before this, and internet worked fine. plugged into yellow port. I appreciate your quick response though - I was so frustrated and intended on returning security system, but decided to keep it now that it connects. Sometimes I feel so technologically challenged!
