Broadband stays up but internet fails. Modem shows "Ping Default Gateway" in diagnostics as FAIL.

I can use the network for hours, then it fails. I run diagnostics and it Fails "Ping default gateway".  This has been happening for quite a while.  Been down for hours and then comes up.  Lights are green.  I've had multiple chat sessions with AT&T with Smart home manager app.  They even sent a new modem which I replaced.  Did not help.  BGE-210.   When it goes down, sometimes I have to wait hours before it reconnects.   AT&T did send a technician and he check the lines.  Switched ports.  Showed nothing on his end.  He suggested doing a hard reboot/reset.  Did not help.  It just happened about an hour ago.  It was up for about 20 hours before it failed. Had the system for years.  Started within the last few months.   I have noticed this happing over the years.  Could not find any fixes or help.

Let's get to the bottom of your intermittent connection, @ACStanley!

Since you've already done extensive troubleshooting, let's move this conversation into a direct message. This way we can run some additional tests to identify the root cause of your concern. Be on the lookout for a chat notification in the upper right-hand portion of the page, next to the bell icon.

We look forward to speaking with you!

I've tried to get back with you on chat but didn't know how.  Further research.  My System is Windows 10 with all updates installed.  Window Defender is installed.  No other virus program.  My system has a ethernet adapter and Wi-Fi adapter.  When the Ping default gateway fails, I disable the ethernet card.  At this point my Ping gateway is fixed.  After I enable the ethernet card withing a few minutes fails.  I do have a USB Ethernet adapter.  I get the same error when I use this to connect.  There is something on my system that is blocking it.  Not sure what, yet.
