Broadband light changed to red.

I have internet and phone service with AT&T. A few days ago I noticed the Broadband light had changed to red. The phone light is green. However, everything seems to working properly.  My landline is working as is the wireless connection throughout the house. Why the red light when everything works?

We're here to help, @pianoman618!

Did you have any power failures or inclement weather recently?

Typically, a red broadband light means the gateway isn't getting a signal from the network, but since your internet and phone are still working, this may be caused by a power issue or line problem. Try unplugging your gateway for 15 seconds and plugging it back in, and make sure the gateway is plugged into a wall outlet instead of a power strip or surge protector, since they can cause power flow problems with our equipment.

We also recommend using our Troubleshoot and Resolve tool to run line diagnostics in your area.

Let us know if this helps.

I tried everything you suggested except plugging directly into the wall outlet. But it's been in a surge protector as long as I have had it and there has never been a problem until now. But as I said, everything is working, so I guess I'll leave well enough alone. Thanks for your response.
