Broadband Disconnecting
Randomly throughout the day my broadband service will drop out for anywhere between 30 seconds up to a couple of hours. A technician was out a few months ago to fix the line. I have also recently upgraded to a newer gateway within the past couple of days and this continues to happen. I constantly have to restart the router and go through those motions, I have even called customer service and had them do an equipment check and line refresh but this still continues to happen. I've even considered changing internet services. I'm not in a position to take off from work at this current moment so a tech appointment is out of consideration right now. Could anyone please help?

Let's see if we can get your service back up to par, @Kel065036,
Is your gateway plugged into a surge protector or an outlet?
Here are some tips on how to optimize and get the most out of your Wi-Fi. We recommend that you plug your gateway into an outlet, because if it's plugged into a surge protector it will not get the full amount of power and it will cause those random disconnects.
We also suggest that you use our Troubleshoot and Resolve Tool. You can can test for any line failure, as well as more in depth Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
Let us know if this helps.

Hi AT & T Support -- there's a pretty big twitter thread about similar issues from users across the San Francisco bay area. Some notice issue with corrupt TLS packets.
Personally I have noticed that there's a high volume of inbound traffic that my router is always dropping; it would be great if AT&T did a better job of dropping attack-traffic at the edge; your users would likely perceive greater bandwidth.
