Base for Pace/2Wire 3801HGV Router?

I need a base for my AT&T Uverse Pace/2Wire 380HGV router.

(I had to replace my Motorola DVR-receiver this month because it was no longer functioning properly. The Cisco unit is wider than the old one, so my router no longer fits where it was installed horizontally. My only other option is to install it vertically in the router's base. The installer took the base away after the initial installation last year.)

I asked a local "Home Solutions Manager" what my options were. He checked and said I'd have to have the whole unit replaced by a technician, which--I presume--might cost me, in time, inconvenience, and possibly dollars.

Just for laughs (1) I called Customer Support to ask if AT&T could send me a replacement base. It took some time to get the agent to understand my request and--after being put on hold three times--she told me AT&T couldn't do that and I should "make one."

Really? Is this AT&T's final answer?
