Att Uverse Wireless Router with DSL Modem with Nighthawk x6 Tri-Band Router HELP!
Hi Evereyone,
So basically I am asking for help with setting up an additional wifi router to my existing At&t Gateway all in one.
I am a lady that likes to think I am tech savvy when it comes to setting up the basics and or reading and following INSTRUCTIONS! I mean really who can't do that...😝 But as it appears online this seems more complex then just following the instructions that came in the Netgear box and reading related searches. I actually called At&t to tell them I purchased my own Gateway All in one so I would not be renting their equipment and I also purchased a Netgear Nighthawk x6 Tri-Band Wifi Router in hopes that this would increase speed and sluggish signal in areas of my house. At&t was no help at all...They made me think I was speaking jib bêtise in regards to returning their equipment to them and how to proceed with my new equipment. What I am trying to say is....Yes! I got worried I couldn't follow the directions otta the box. I am asking where do I find exactly how to use this Nighthawk x6 with this Gateway? Is this possible they can do good working together? I am over swapping equipment and or moving things from room2room. It is time to go big and get it done or just...
It's 2015 I didn't think things needed to be so complicated.

Hi @LJG0007,
I am sorry about the issues you are having with getting everything setup. For the U-verse router, if everything is working fine on it, all you have to do is connect it, and the broadband and service lights should go green. If they do not, you have a defective gateway.
Connecting the Netgear should hopefully be the same way, but you may want to go through some additional settings so the Netgear handles all the routing.
I would start first with getting the U-verse gateway connected and making sure a computer can directly connect to it. If that is working, connect the Netgear, and then see if the computer works with it. Finally, once everything is working, you can go into the more advanced configurations of setting up the U-verse gateway in passthrough or DMZ depending on what type of gateway you have.
Hope this helps.
