AT&T Homebase - Occasional to frequent WiFi connection issues for one device but not any others.

I've had a couple ZTE phones that connect to WiFi through the AT&T Homebase device. Over time, first the WiFi stays connected, then would increasingly drop/reconnect on its own, then drop and have to manually reconnect just for it to drop again almost immediately.  Though, no other devices do this (laptop, Xbox, etc.). The WiFi connection never disappears from the available connections list. I'm trying to figure out if it is a settings issue, glitch, etc. The only temporary fix I've discovered is resetting the phone and the WiFi stays connected for the time being.

Hi, @KHAOSxTHEORY,

We'd love to help with this. What type of ZTE phones are you connecting to the Home Base? How many devices are connected to your Wi-Fi when the phones lose the signal? Please let us know.

At the most there are probably around 5 devices connected to the homebase at one time. I've had a few ZTE phones the past couple years and recently upgraded to a newer one. The ones I've used to connect to the Homebase is the n817 (Quest) which had no issues, n818s (Sapphire 3G) which ran into the issue several times, and currently the N9517 (Blade Force) which ran into the issue once so far. They all used by default the Qlink service which I believe uses the Sprint network. I've reset the current phone a couple days ago and it has stayed connected to the WiFi so far. Once the issue starts, then that's when it becomes more frequent usually starting with WiFi disconnected while the phone is asleep even though it is set to stay on while asleep and when the phone is woken up it wants to reconnect to the WiFi automatically. Then, over time it'll won't try often to automatically connect to WiFi and when you manually do it, it'll disconnect soon after, though the network appears always in the available network list with disconnected under it. I am just wondering if it is a Homebase settings issue or something else that would cause the issue to start and continue over time so it can be prevented from starting at any point.

Hi @KHAOSxTHEORY

Have you tried wiping the device's cache partition? To do that, turn off the device. Hold down the Volume Up, Home, & Power keys. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key. Continue to hold down the Volume Up and Home keys. When the Android system recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys. Press the Volume Down key until wipe cache partition is selected. Press the Power key. Wait until reboot system now is selected. Press the Power key.

If that doesn't work, you can also try troubleshooting your Home Base.

With my previous phone I did all the troubleshooting with the phone through the manufacturer and they said that it may be likely an issue with the homebase to certain phones. The model of the Homebase is Z700A. I've recently reset my current phone so I am currently not having the issue but looking to prevent it from happening in the future and maybe find the exact cause of it.

Hello @KHAOSxTHEORY,

Thank you for informing us. We're glad to hear that your cell phone hasn't been having any connection issues with your AT&T Homebase since you completed the reset. If you start to experience this same issue again, we recommend that you follow the previous steps provided to wipe your device's cache partition, and use the steps at the previous link provided to troubleshoot your Home Base as needed. Please let us know if this issue returns, and we'll be happy to take a closer look.
