xboxone.png

XBOX has great solutions on how to get you back into the game.

What is your NAT Type?

  1. Press the Xbox button
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Network Settings.
  4. Select NAT Type.

Changing your NAT

If you see Strict or Moderate, XBOX Support has a step-by-step solution to help resolve the NAT Issue.

I currently have opened ports on my Arris NVG589 gateway for an Open NAT Type for my Xbox One console.  Now, I am adding a second console (second user in the household), but get a Strict NAT Type for it.  How do I get an Open NAT Type for the second console?  Thanks for the help.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue with an Arris BWG210. When the second XBox tries to jump into a game being played on the first XBox, it completely shuts the second XBox down.

Thought I would share...

For those that are experiencing issues with multiple Xbox One's.  I solved it by getting a $19 router (Inexpensive UPnP Router).  Use the supplied cable, connect the new routers WAN port to any of the 1 of the 4 CAT 5 ports on the Uverse router.  Set the new router as the DMZ host on the UVerse routers firewall settings.  Restart everything (consoles, new and old router).  Go into your network settings on the consoles, find your new router (you could have renamed it and given new login credentials which are recommended) and let it go.  The XBox will automatically detect and configure itself via UPnP.  I have one console physically connected to the new router and another in the house connected over WiFi to the NEW router.  Both with OPEN NAT's.

(was having issues playing Conan Exiles with the nephew at the same time - this fixed it - game and voice chat.  Note we do both have our own XBox Live accounts!)

The UVerse router we have is the Pace 5268AC.

I know this is an older thread, but I got my two systems to both work with open NAT. The ATT gateway supports both 2.4 and 5 ghz connections. I logged into the gateway and changed the name of the 5ghz network. I then had my xbox connect to the 2.4 and my daughter's to the 5ghz. Both have an open NAT, and have worked flawlessly.

how about PS 4?  How do I open my Nat type from strict (3) to a moderate (2) or open (1)?

It shouldn't matter. The NAT isn't part of the console, it's part of the router. The same steps should work for any console... XB, PS4, Switch, etc

Seems it is impossible to open nat for more than one Xbox even if one is direct wired and the other is wifi. It makes no sense. Att is built on gaming yet cannot fix this simple issue. If a customer wants to open nat and subject their computers to hacks att should fully allow it. This is the error when attempting to open 2. May have to create a static ip for the 2nd Xbox or just switch back to Cox who is more expensive but will let us game on Xbox properly 🤷‍♂️

Xbox one S live conflicts with Xbl live wired which is currently in use on XBOXONE.

Xbox one S live and Xbl live wired use the same resources and cannot both be hosted at the same time. To use Xbox one S live, you must first remove Xbl live wired from the application list of XBOXONE. Alternatively, you can install the applications on one computer and add both application profiles to the application list for that computer.
