ARRIS NVG589 Speed dropped to 18-19 MBPS from 48-50MBPS. Troubleshooting steps?

We upped our Uverse Internet speed last week and replaced the reliable old 2Wire RG with this new ARRIS device.

Initially, all speed tests showed around 48MBPS, which is what we're paying for.

Last night, could barelly get connected (via WiFi) but finally did, but only thorugh an upstairs access point - never did connect directly to RG WiFi.  Once we got in, limped along at 5 MBPS download.  Restarted modem and speeds jumped back up, using wither the RG native WiFi, or via access point.

Today, speeds are back down to 15-18 MBPS, regardless of WiFi connection used, and after a restart of the modem. These speeds are expereinced on Windows Phone, iPhone, and two different PCs, BTW.

Any suggestions as to what to try next?

As an update:

Went in to look at RG lights, and saw that Broadband 2 light was intermittently red.  While watching, it turned green and then went out.

Came back to PC and speeds were back up to 48Meg.

Should that light be out?  Green?

Now what?  Do I tell ATT about that?  Who do I call that will understand what's going on?

Thanks for advice. Further observation reveals:

On start/restart of RG, both BB lights flash red for about 10 seconds, and
then the BB1 light turns green and the BB2 light goes out. If I do a speed
test, it shows 50 MBPS. Should that be expected with one pair out
(according to light on RG)?

I hate to go thru hassle of getting through the ATT automated voice response
system to get to a real person, but I guess I'll have to bite the bullet.

I can browse to the RG, but I don't see where to find " stats for max sync,
SN margins both up/down. ."

Would those values be under the Broadband tab? And then what?

Here's what's under Broadband Status:

And here are IGMP Stats:

Nothing showed up in your post, just copy/paste the whole page.

Here's the 589 manual:

This page that I see under Broadband/Status does not look like the page documented in the manual for which you supplied a link.  I notice that that manual seems to be referencing DSL a lot - is the DSL gateway the same as the U-Verse Power gateway?

Anyway - here's what I see.  Any of that help?
