Airties 4920 wifi being bypassed by laptop to connect to weaker signal from 568AC gateway

I have one 4920 airties setup about 15-20 feet from my 568AC, with the airties being closer to my laptop.  Other wifi products in the house will connect to the airties, it does seem to be working, but my laptop seems to want to connect to the 568ac which is providing a weaker wifi signal, laptop will switch back and forth, but mostly will stay connected to the weaker signal on the 568AC.   When I'm connected to the airties, no issues/full signal, but when I'm connected to the 568AC the signal is weak and I have issues with my voice app.

Ideas on why a I don't stay connected to the airties and instead keep going to the worse signal?

Any way to force my laptop to connect to the airties?   (as mentioned, I only have one thus can't turn off the wifi of the 568AC).

Thanks!

Hello @MikeNovice, let’s see what we can do.

What laptop are you using? Is it a Windows or MacOS device?

There should be settings under networking to allow you to manually connect to a specified device only when you attempt to click on it.

I’m using an HP elite book with windows 10. When I look at available WiFi it doesn’t differentiate between gateway or extender. Would be great to know if there is a way to push it to extender. Thanks!

Hi @MikeNovice!

We'd love to help you here! We suggest that you clear cache on your device and then try reconnecting it.Have you tried to name the SSID on your AirTies? We suggest that you use a Smart Home Manager and name each device on your network.

Hi, to clear cache, are you referring to Windows or the AirTies? Not sure how to clear either, can you point me? I can clear IE but assume this is some broader cache you are referring to. Thanks! Mike
