Adding WIFI printer to AT&T modem/router
I am trying to add a wifi printer to my home network. I have given it a static IP (192.168.1.70) and created 2 firewall rules to allow the router to connect (I thought). One for "in" and one for "out" since I wasn't sure which would be used. The router model is 5268AC FAN.
1. Will this router support a WIFII printer?
2. Any suggestions for salving this connection problem?

What model printer? There should be no reason to assign a static IP or create firewall rules. Your printer should just connect to your network the same as any other device, at least that’s how my WiFi printer works.

It is a Xerox Phaser 6510. It was set up for DHCHP out of the box, but the router did not recognize it and issue an IP. by setting a static IP and specifying 'allow' for that IP in a rule, I thought I would be able to get it through the router. It is possible there is something else to do on the printer. The manual doesn't exactly match the current printer software so I may have missed a setting.

We're here to help get your printer connected to your network, @Estalson.
You can connect your printer using your Wi-Fi password or via WPS. Let us know if this helps or if you need further assistance with this.

Hi there, Estalson! We do understand that you are trying to connect your printer to the AT&T router via Wi-Fi. We can help you with this.
Connecting your printer, if the printer itself handles WPS, is very simple and easy to do.
Using the steps below, you should be able to get it successfully connected:
Connecting your Printer to WiFi
Connecting your Printer to WiFi
Connecting via WPS
Connecting via WiFi Password
If all else fails, you can use the static ips, but if you have any connection or internet issues that AT&T equipment needs to reset, you will have to manually go in and reconfigure them back to where they were prior to the reset.
If you have any other questions, please reach back out to us again.
Thank you for using the AT&T Community Forums.
