Add WIFI Router to DSL Modem

Can I add a wifi router to my ATT DSL NETGEAR Modem to have dependable wireless service?   The Netgear modem still works as a modem but the wifi is very spotty.   I have to reset it multiple times a day.

Is it a modem or gateway (modem/router combo)? You said your WiFi is spotty so that indicates you have a gateway. If so, the answer is yes. You just need to put the gateway in bridge mode (or pass through) to disable its router portion, purchase a router of your choice and connect it.

It is a gateway (ADSL2+ Netgear 7550).  I have a desktop hardwired with an Ethernet cable.   The issue is the wireless is consistently on and off.   If I reboot the modem, the WIFI will work for a little while before needing another reboot.   I am going to purchase a router to connect to the modem by ethernet to see if wireless improves.   Thanks for the response.
