5031nv-030 compatibility with Bonjour

Hi, I cannot access my home network's Apple iTunes shared media libraries on my wired Windows 10 PC or any of my wireless iOS devices ever since ATT installed this 5031nv router a few weeks ago. I also lost the ability to sync my iPhone over WiFi with iTunes and the Remote app doesn't work anymore. Does the 5031nv router support mDNS? Where can I get firmware updates for this router? Someone please advise me, thank you!

@mustbeh4x

AT&T provided router/gateway (their term) does not play well with others. The best solution would be to install a router downstream from the 5031nv that will support your needs. I myself installed an Apple AirPort Extreme for the same reasons. Should you decide to go this router, move your entire home network off of the 5031nv so that you can enjoy any to any connectivity.

I'll try that, thank you. My parents have an extra Apple AirPort laying around from when they upgraded to the Apple Time Capsule, so this works for me. Smiley Very Happy

I got everything installed and all is well again with Bonjour.

@ApexRon Do you have your Apple AirPort Extreme in bridge mode?

No, I do not have the Airport in bridge mode. I use it as a cascaded router. Basically, my Airport is a different IP network from the AT&T router/gateway which I only used for U-verse TV. I even disabled WiFi on the AT&T router/gateway but I live in a condo and don't need all the RF.

I'm thinking about trying that setup too, but I want to make sure my network stays protected from port scans. Are you using the AT&T router/gateway firwall?

Yes, I am using AT&T router/gateway firewall as well as the Airport's. I am also using Double NAT because the AT&T router/gateway uses NAT as well as the Airport. Only V. Putin can crack my network.

I must be doing something wrong. How do you setup the Apple AirPort as a cascaded router? When I tried to set it up I was forced to disable the AT&T router/gateway firewall.

Perform a factory reset to the Airport and don't make the choice of bridge mode. Here is a screen from my Airport:

My DNS servers are Google and Open DNS.

Got it, thank you! The Apple AirPort Utility warned me of Double NAT issues. I just chose to ignore the message, but why would it be an issue? Everything seems to be working fine. I noticed that the AT&T router/gateway does not show the Apple AirPort as a cascaded router. I guess since it's still on the same network. It looks like you can add the additional network in the AT&T router/gateway under Broadband -> Link Configuration section to make it truely cascaded.

Yup, ignore the warning. It warns you because some devices don't play well with Double NAT but I have not had an issue. The AT&T router/gateway is not smart enough to recognize a cascaded router but I configured 5268ac to show it as one. Here is my network downstream from Airport:

192.168.2.1 is the IP address of the Airport to its downstream network.
