WHAT DOES YAHOO REJECT ADDRESS

Often when I am given a contact address and I copy and paste it - Yahoo mail - very very very - unhelpfully tells me: "please correct these email addresses before sending".  It offers no hints or clarification.

Hmm, that is odd @DespiseYahooMail_10012. Thanks so much for going into the specific detail on your issue. In this case, more than likely the email itself is invalid: as in, it’s not fully set up, no longer in use, or has a misconfigured mail server. When available, the Yahoo! interface will try to check the validity of an email address when it’s loaded in the contact bar. Yahoo! Mail definitely doesn’t filter the word “email” at the beginning of addresses, we’re not aware that it filters any word.

We’d recommend reaching out to the person who services that email address through an alternate contact method. If it’s a company, they may have a contact form on their website for you to let them know about this issue.

Let us know if you have any further questions about this!

Agree with Constructive, contact Yahoo to ask about how Yahoo mail works.

However, it sounds like the e-mail address you're trying to use is not of the form:

addressee @ domain . tld

or something is wrong with the domain (e.g. "yahoo", "att") or tld (e.g. "com", "net", "edu" )

(I cannot give specific information because it looks like the forum software has edited it out... which at least means the forum software recognizes it as an e-mail address).

Good afternoon @DespiseYahooMail_10012,

Please share which web browser you're currently using so we can work on this together.

We can help with this, @DespiseYahooMail_10012.

There are no known outages for this particular email function. This likely means the issue is caused by your web browser. We'd recommend clearing your browser's cache and cookies. There may be a corrupt file on your computer that's causing this problem.

Also, when you paste the email address, make sure that it's not a website url, such as ATT.com. It should look more like "email [@] website.com." In addition, check to make sure it does not include "mailto:" at the beginning. That will sometimes cause issues with sending the email as well.

Let us know if you need more help!

I am using Chrome.

The word email was tacked onto the front of the address - as in emailfeedback@_____, I removed the word email from the front and changed it to just feedback and pasted it back into the address (It doesn't let you modify within the address space).  with "email" removed from the address it "sent" but I don't know if it got sent to the right place.

The form of the email address was: [email scrubbed]. and that gives the error message: "Please correct these email addresses before sending".

I wondered that also, and finally contacted the company through another route.   I mentioned to them that the given address had failed to send.  They have not gotten back to me.

It would make a nice addition to that error message if it did suggest; “check to make sure the email address is still valid”, because the dumb message as it stands implies, to the non tech savvy,  it must be a form or formatting error.

Thanks for your feedback, and we actually like that idea! We'll get that suggestion over to the right folks to see if it's possible to add that language. Thanks again @DespiseYahooMail_10012, and please let us know if you have other questions!
