Unable to receive emails / empty inbox for my Bellsouth.net account

On 8/10/2020, I was finally able to recover my bellsouth account after many years. Upon logging in, I found that account's inbox was empty and I am unable to receive e-mails to that account. However, I can send e-mails  from the account.

I am accessing the e-mail address from a chrome browser through yahoo.com's webmail client.

Hello @cfik

We understand that you'r encountering some trouble with sending emails from your BellSouth e-mail account. Be assured, we will do our best to assist you with a resolution.

In some cases simply resetting your password can resolve this issue. If you  have not tried that as a solution, that would be recommend since you just recovered the account.

Also, try clearing cache in Chrome, closing the browser and re-launching. You also might look into using an email client to see if you can successfully send e-mails. A client such as Outlook. For incoming and outgoing settings, check out this link for the information.

Let us know if that resolves the issue. We're hopeful that will support a resolution for you.

I have reset my password multiple times (once, while on the phone with a technician that recommended this as a solution) without any success.

When sending e-mails to the account in question, I get the following auto-response:

Address not found

Your message wasn't delivered to ******@bellsouth.net because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.

The response from the remote server was:

550 5.2.1 <******@bellsouth.net>... blank mailhost - invalid address, relay=[209.85.222.53]

This leads me to believe that the account is disabled. Is there a way to re-enable the account?

Additionally, I am not having trouble sending e-mails from the account. I am having trouble receiving e-mails to the account.

Hi @cfik, thanks for getting back to us.

Apologies for the confusion on the issue. Based on the error you're getting, it sounds like the account may not have been fully restored.

Since we'd need your account-specific information to resolve that, we'd recommend contacting our customer care team via phone or chat for this one.
