Sbcglobal.net e-mail not working on iPhone

I had to change my password. Have done it many times. Removed account from iPhone and added it back with the new password. I get wrong username or wrong password message. I know it is correct as I can access from my home computer. Seems to be a common problem, as I have read other posts, but cannot find the problem or solution. Need help...Thanks !

Hello, @F1chris,

Thank you for reaching out. We'd love to help investigate this. Are you using POP or IMAP on your email settings? It needs to be IMAP. Here are the steps for a manual setup:

  1. Select Settings>Mail.
  2. Select Accounts>Add Account>Other.
  3. Select Add Mail Account.
  4. Enter your name, email, password, and select Next.
  5. Select IMAP.
  6. Ensure the User Name is the full email address. User Name and Password are the same for both Outgoing and Incoming Servers.
  7. Incoming Mail Server Host Name is imap.mail.att.net
  8. Outdoing Mail Server Name is smtp.mail.att.net
  9. You may receive a prompt asking you to verify the servers. Click Continue for each or tap Details and then tap Trust.
  10. Tap Save.
  11. Choose the account you just created.
  12. Choose the SMTP Server.
  13. Doublecheck the SMTP settings and click Done.

Let us know if this helped.

@ATTHelp

James - I appreciate the response. I check everything again as per your instructions, but I get a message:

Cannot Get Mail

The mail server "imap.mail.att.net" is not responding...

Regards,

Chris

Hi, F1chris,

Have you setup your email for OAuth or a secure mail key? If not, that could be the cause. Sign into your myAT&T account and click on the preceding link. Under How do I change my email settings for the security update?, there is a link to Troubleshoot and Resolve for email clients. Choose Update Existing Setup. From there, follow the steps provided.

Let us know if that helped.

I had to change my password to get my SBCGlobal emails on my office PC.  When I did that, I stopped getting said emails on my iPhone.  Nothing I do will let the SBCGlobal emails come through my iPhone.  It's very frustrating.

When I try to set it up through Other and enter in the information, upon verifying it, it tells me to go to Mail; Account Settings; and enter a password.  But there is no "Account Settings" under Mail.

I type everything in correctly, and it says 'Unable to verify account name or password.  This happens on the iMac, but I was able to correct it on my iphone, and I can get email directly from the att & browser

Still I can't create my sbcglobal.net account on my iPhone. The password is correct. But when I go to Next after entering it I am getting message "can't verify, enter password". My google account and yahoo account work fine. Can ATT fix that?
