Mail is being received twice when using Outlook
I have an email address ending in BELLSOUTH.NET and another email address ending in ATT.NET. I also have a GMAIL.COM account. I use Microsoft Outlook from Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016 to manage all of my email accounts.
When I download email, I receive email from my BELLSOUTH.NET account twice. Email from my other accounts download normally and are received only once. I have looked for settings that may affect this behavior and I have not found anything in Outlook or in the BELLSOUTH.NET settings. Interestingly, ATT.NET and BELLSOUTH.NET seem to use the same service (Yahoo) for email.
Does anyone else see this behavior and no how to fix it?

All att accounts use yahoo as their email service provider but with uniquely named servers defined here. The bellsouth.net account is considered an att legacy account.
Is the att.net a subaccount of the bellsouth account or vice versa? If not how else do you have two accounts with att? If you log into the webmail through start.att.net (click mail icon in upper right) whatever you see in the inbox is what your clients are fetching if configured as POP or if IMAP all the webmail folders are in sync with their IMAP clients. In other words the webmail always mirrors the servers.
Disable your outlook's bellsouth and att accounts (or just quit outlook) and see if the problem reproduces in the webmail. If it doesn't the problem lies with some setting in your outlook for one of those accounts (filter maybe). If it does show in the webmail then you probably stumbled into yet another problem involving legacy accounts.

I think I may have discovered the cause of this by digging around through the various settings for all of the email addresses that I have.
Gmail has a feature named GMAILIFY. I do not know how or when it happened but it appears that my BELLSOUTH.NET email address was linked to the GMAILIFY feature. Maybe it happened when I got a new phone. Just guessing.
It seems that when these two accounts are linked, Outlook would retrieve a BELLSOUTH.NET message from Gmail and from Bellsouth.net resulting in two messages of the same thing in my inbox. I unlinked the BELLSOUTH.NET account from the GMAILIFY feature. It now seems that the issue is resolved.
Thanks to all those who took the time to reply to my post.

Hmm, you never mentioned you had linked your att account to your gmail account. Oh well, glad you figured it out.

I was not aware that the account had been linked to the gmail account. I discovered it when I went exploring through all of the various settings.
Everything still seems to be working normally. If others see the same behavior, perhaps this post will help them.

See this behaivor all the time. Have spent hours on the phone with ATT only to be told it is my problem. They told me I needed to update my version of Outlook. Problem here is that I see people with better versions having the same problem. Have been using this for years and OOPS just started happening in 2019. Could it be the new and improved Yahoo because the timing is about the same.
