I Need to Save my SBC Global yahoo & @ATT emails - But Shuttlecloud failed to transfer to google

I have an SBC Global/yahoo Email address and I was told by a rep I will lose the account it if I cancel my ATT. (I believe they also said my other family members @att email addresses would be OK). I am trying to back up all my SBC Global/yahoo emails and transition to a new account. But when I used shuttlecloud to try and move my emails to a gmail account and it didn't work. I followed all directions to do the transfer and it never told me there was an error, it said it would work in a few hours or days, but  the emails never showed up in the gmail account. I did transfer my SBC Global/yahoo Emails to gmail 4 years ago and it worked. It just doesn't work now.

My questions are:

1) Is it correct that my families @att email addresses are safe even if we no longer have AT&T service?

2) What is the best option to transfer all my SBC Global emails and AT&T emails, besides shuttlecloud, since it doesn't work? Is linking it to the Outlook desktop program a good idea so I can transfer the emails there?

Thanks

We're here to help with your email concerns, @squidward!

First, the only way that you wouldn't have access to the emails after cancellation is if you still owe a balance at the time of cancellation. As long as your account is in good standing at that time, you should have no problems accessing your email.

Secondly, How are you accessing your AT&T email at the moment? By browser, app, or an email program?

Let us know so we can better assist you!

I mainly access my SBC Global email via desktop.

Are there any migration services available on AT&T's end, especially for the SBC Global addresses?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi, @squidward.

As our previous agent stated, you will be able to keep your email after cancellation

We would suggest that if you want to back up your email, you back it up to Currently. This is the main website that you should be using for email.

Let us know if this helps.

The "keep your email after cancellation link" you posted above states there is a method for unmerging accounts. Is this still recommended for sbcglobal.net email accounts and does it apply to our family members with att accounts also?

We are here to help with your email, .

That only applies to emails that are tied to your account. If your family cancels the service then they would have to unmerge all the AT&T email addresses that were associated with the account.

We're happy to help with your email access, @crbaxter.

If you cancel your AT&T internet account and there is a balance owed on the AT&T internet account, you will lose access to the email until it is resolved.

Please let us know:

  • If you have an active service with us?
  • Are you logging in using currently?

Ok, so just to make sure I understand:

Under our family att.net account:

* I have 2 family member with @att.net addresses.

* I have an @sbcglobal.net email address.

My understanding is that to keep access to all three after I cancel ATT service, I have to follow the unmerge instructions. But I am concerned with this message in your link above "The att.net email is deleted when you unmerged" :

"Merged Email Addresses - If your Yahoo email is tied to your att.net email, you do have the option to unmerge it. The att.net email is deleted when you unmerge the account. You must process the request within 30 days of cancellation."

If I follow these instructions with all three email addresses (two @att.net and one sbcglobal.net), will I still have access to the same three exact email addresses?

@squidward

You should still have access to the emails as long as it's within 30 days of cancelling service.

Let us know if you still have questions.
