How to generate a Secure Mail Key for sbcglobal.net email address

I have been trying to generate a Secure Mail Key for my old sbcglobal.net email so that I can continue to use Thunderbird - it is my main email and I use it tens of times each day. When I go to my account online and to the Account Security page it is blank - save for a "How you sign in" heading.

I tried Yahoo support but they don't support the ATT Yahoo emails and then tried to call the ATT 800-288-2020 number. However, I could not get through the phone tree as I no longer have my DSL via ATT. Does anyone know of any way around this?

I have tried Mailbird and Microsoft Mail - they are so lame - so would really rather go back to my Thunderbird account.

Hi @KristineHinrichs, we'll be glad to help you set up the secure mail key.

We have some suggestions to get this cleared up for you.

  • First, let's double-check the steps to create a secure mail key. It should be under Profile > Sign-in Info > Secure mail key.
  • If the option is missing or not displaying properly, there could be an issue with the web browser. Our sbcglobal troubleshooting article has guidance for this under the sign-in issues section.
  • If the above does not help, try the steps on a different browser or different device.

Please let us know if this helps, or if you need further assistance.

Thank you. This did work, but not without a lot of dead ends. The ONLY way I was able to access the “Profile” and generate the key was via Safari on my iPad. I tried Edge, Firefox, Chrome on my Windows PC - I just got to a page not found. Thank you for solving the problem.
