Top 3 Email Solutions
Using a client? | Can't Sign In? | Yahoo.com vs Currently.com |
If you are having a hard time using your client, you may need to set up AT&T's New Security Feature to sign-in. You can also check your mail via a browser. | Sometimes we forget our passwords and enter the wrong one. Resetting your password is one of the fastest ways to get back into your account. | If you are routed to AT&T's Sign-in, this is normal. Just use your att.net, sbcglobal.net, or bellsouth.net as normal. |
Learn about Oauth and Secure Mail Key and compaible clients. | Make sure you are using the right ID. Find it now. | Still having trouble? Using a different browser or clear cache and cookies |

WebMail and Features Troubleshooting
-
Clear Cache and Cookies - The most common fix
-
Update Your Browser - many features are only compatible with the latest browser and we recommend updating it
-
Test signing in to your webmail using another browser
-
Disable browser tools or add-ons - varies by device and browser
-
Disable your firewall - varies by device and browser
-
Enable Adobe Flash Player - install flash player now
-
Make sure Java is up-to-date - https://www.java.com/en/download/
Have the right browser
Internet Explorer and/ or a Microsoft Edge browser older than 15.x, you will need to upgrade your browser to a supported browser. If you’re using FireFox, Chrome, and/or a Mac-based browser, just sit back, and relax.
Can you keep your email?
In short, yes you can! Our Free Email FAQs page has more information and things you need to know. Please check out the terms and conditions page for more information.
Email Not Going Where It Is Supposed To?
-
Is Your Email Going Into Spam? Trash? Another Folder? - check the rules in webmail to make sure nothing is set up to forward
-
Hacked Email - If your email account was compromised, rules may have been set up without your knowledge
-
3rd Party Browsers - If you are using a 3rd party mailbox like Outlook, disable it to make sure that mail box is not causing the issues
Note: Some 3rd party mail apps have been known to cause issues and send mail into trash. We highly recommend discontinuing the use of the app and using the Yahoo Mail App.
3rd Party Mailbox - (Outlook, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird)
You may need to update your client to work with Oauth. You will find step-by-step solutions in our Client Setup Page. You'll find solutions below for generic client issues:
-
Test using webmail - If you are able to sign in to your email via the web, the issue points to the app or mailbox you are using.
-
Mailboxes - we recommend using the latest version. Updates and changes may prevent it from working properly.
-
Rebuild Mailbox profile - In some instances, rebuilding the profile fixes some issues. You may lose email doing this
-
Change your settings from POP to IMAP
-
Test using webmail. If do not experience issues, it could be related to the 3rd party app
-
Client issues - If you are using POP, you must now use IMAP. There was a recent change, this article will explain further
-
AT&T does not officially support or troubleshoot mailboxes/ clients like Outlook
Note: For those of you using Evolution and having issues sending email, go into setting and find Disable Settings For All POP3 Extensions and select it.
Having trouble with Outlook, check out this thread from one of our community members.
POP Vs IMAP Settings
Due to maintenance to upgrade the legacy IMAP host to a modernized IMAP infrastructure, some customers may get an SSL Certificate mismatch error within their e-mail client or mobile device
-
Accept the mismatch to update the SSL certificate for the e-mail to work as normal.
-
If there is no option to accept the certificate, remove the e-mail account and set it up again.
-
For older Android devices without auto-setup change the following settings.
Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) | Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) |
|
|
Spellcheck
The spellcheck feature is no longer supported via webmail and now defaults to the browser spell check option.

OK, I also have had my email server failure since 11/12/2020 on 2 android phones, 1 ipad, and Outlook on a PC. It is NOT our problem. The att.net accounts worked on all devices for years and no changes were made by me. All devices are using the correct IMAP configurations listed above.
SO, what is broke on ATT's end and how do we get our email service back??

I am unable to access my eMail from Microsoft Outlook 365 running on Windows 10. I get the pop up asking me to enter the user name and password for the pop.mail.yahoo.com server. I have the user name entered correctly and I have the secure mail key entered as the password, but it will not accept them.

I have tried all the above to fix my issue of not being able to access my email on either my Iphone or Kindle Fire:
On Nov 12, 2020 I can no longer access my email on either my Kindle Fire or Iphone (7).
I can access it on my laptop or logging in through any webservice on both my Iphone & Kindle
When trying to access through "Mail" on either Iphone or Kindle it says "Message from your email provider: Email address or password incorrect" They are correct..
any ideas what going on? Both devices are up to date on Updates.
Thank you
B L.

Both iPhone & iPad have successfully sent & received emails under same email account. 2 days ago, my iPad was unable to send & receive. The error message is —> “Cannot get email. The mail server “imap.mail.att.net” is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct Account info in mail settings.”
I never touched the mail settings. But upon receiving the message, I verified that my email address was correct. I correctly re-entered my password. Contacted Apple & they couldn’t fix. What is your recommendation? Thank you.

I believe this started happening after noon CT on 12-Nov-20. I did not notice until the morning of the 13th. When I tried to start thunderbird to manage my email, I see the normal message at the bottom that says host contact, sending login information. After about a minute, I receive a popup titled Error with account and then my email account. In the error dialogue :sending of password for user [email scrubbed] did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded Server error - Please try again later.
I checked my settings and they are the same as they have been for years. This happeneto me once before maybe 10 years ago or whenever AT&T switch to yahoo for their mail hosting and they had changed the server name/port numbers.
I CAN get to email through the web client (mail.att.net).

I have no idea of what's going on with my AT&T Yahoo mail. I don't even know how to get help with yahoo mail. In any event, I receive no messages in my inbox. They all go to a file marked "Unread." So, I don't even know that I have messages until I lstumble upon this file. I'm not sure why my emails are going to an "unread" file. I never heard of this. And once I open the email in the unread file, it disappears and is lost. I was hacked over a week ago and replaced my password twice with a new one. Nothing suspicious anymore that I have noticed but it sure threw my yahoo mail into a tizzy. I can send with my mail. I can receive messages -- but again, they go into an unread folder -- not my inbox. Any advice or possible solutions?

I have winlive mail. When I try to access emails or send them I receive error message "incorrect password". Have changed password with no effect. Have created a new account within winlive with no effect. inbound/outbound.att.net are the servers. What next? Remember, I cannot access email via winlive but can see emails from my att sign in on your website. Standing by.

Hi: I have a legacy sbcglobal.net email account. It was being administered by Yahoo but I think it's now administered by ATT. I use Outlook (IMAP, 2016, Windows 10) as my email portal. It's been glitchy for several days, and yesterday I was unable to connect to the server. I get error code 0x800CCC0E from Outlook - "Cannot connect to server". I can log into the email using a browser and all the messages and folders are there (fortunately). I tried contacting ATT Tech Support but no-one there knows what's going on other than they "know there are problems", they "cancelled all 56k dial-up service and that has knocked a lot of people offline", and "did you get a letter from us" (No)! Anyway, if anyone out there has any PG13 computer neophyte suggestions about how I can recover my Outlook accessibility I'd very much appreciate hearing from you! Thanks, John

I am using Thunderbird Version 78.4.3.
I have two pacbell.net accounts.
One can send and receive, and the other cannot.
All settings are correct.
Here is the error that is returned when attempt is made to retrieve email:
"Sending of password for user ********@*******.net did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error- Please try again later.
This has been going on for three days.
How can I fix this issue?
Thanks, Robert

I have stopped receiving emails on my iphone 11 since Thursday. I have now removed the account and added it back but it continues to say I must enter my password which has already been entered. I can receive emails from my gmail account but not my sbcglobal account which is the main account i use.

Since November 10 thru 12 I have not been able to access bellsouth.net email via Outlook or native Windows mail client. This only affects Windows 10 computers. I verify password is correct via Yahoo webmail client, Mac email client and Outlook forAndroid.
