Can't log into ATT.net email account??????

Starting on Thursday 11/1/18 I can't log into my att.net email account.

It act like it will, but then takes me to a yahoo email to a log in page.

I have separate att.net email and yahoo email accounts.

Separate user names and passwords.

What's going on with att.net??????????

Try first to go to att.com sign in page and log in from there, if it will not log you in, do the forgot password process thru there and if does not work, you will need to chat online or call to tech support(800-288-2020 or 877-273-2728 option 1 then 5) to generate a temporary password for you.

You have to love the stupidity of AT&T, they separate the email accounts and then let Yahoo come back in months later to control them.

I had to reset my att.net password and now have to log into att.net through Yahoo.

How F*CKING STUPID can you get?

That's not a challenge, quit trying.

Yahoo has always been the email server that maintains free emails ever since. This might be due to the recent purchase of Verizon of Yahoo.

Att and yahoo decided to "unmerge" the att accounts from yahoo.  I think that was spawned by the acquisition of yahoo by verizon (don't know for sure).  IMO they pretty much botched that up (based on the threads that followed in these forums) because that's when account problems started arising with the legacy account users.  Recently I think they finally got it through their skulls they screwed up and are in the process of going back "in" trying to "fix" it.  In doing so that caused a whole flood of recent threads about "my password no longer works" or "I try to log into att but redirected to yahoo".  It's a work in progress I guess.

Moving accounts around from one server's database to another I believe involves the loss of the account passwords in the moved account data.  Hence the repeated suggestion in these forums "create a new password".  I've basically given up responding to giving that suggestion.  There's now just too many - wore me down.  My philosophy is that at this point there's been so many replies suggesting that (to varying degrees of success) let the user learn to do a search for the answer.  There is a search bar at the top of the page after all.  There's plenty of posts on this to find the "change your password" suggestion (and the usual followup "if it doesn't work call the Digital Assistance Center").  Alternatively you would think it would be nice if att actually put out an alert or something to warn users to expect email login instability and possible suggestions on how to at least try to fix the problem like "try changing your d@mn password".  This as opposed to burying it in a "support" article no one knows is published or where to find it, or a ATTCares post in a thread a user might not want to bother reading, or trying to log in and presented with something like "your password doesn't work, change it" with no explanation why after the years the user has been using it successfully.

At this point I don't know what the state of the "fix" is but obviously there are still problems.  I can sort of understand losing passwords when moving accounts.  I am less sure about "logging into att, being redirected to yahoo".  But obviously it too is related to the account moving.  I guess their fix is still not ready for prime time but that's never stopped them in the past from letting the users be beta testers for them (who beta tested the "new" webmail UI for example?).

[end rant]

Are you using a Email client?
