Cannot log into my sbcglobal.net email account

Hello, My Name is Ted Pappas and I have not been able to log into my old  email account this past month. I have had 3 major brain surgeries in the last six months and have locked myself out. BUT they always were able to give me a temporary password over the phone after I verified who I was. For security purposes they have changed this over the past month. I have spoken to many people on the phone and waited hours on hold also. This has been a nightmare, because I currently am not a ATT or Direct TV customer so they say they cannot help me. I have been a long time customer with them for many years both personal and business. They told me if I had another email or a current phone number attached to that email account they would be able to send me a temporary password. But I never updated that, so now Im in a nightmare where I cant access my personal, business and medical emails which are all so very important. I have a case ticket number established already #222276957. Someone at ATT please help.

We understand that you need to get access to your email ASAP, btpaps.

Ordinarily, we'd be able to reset your password for you, but at this time, we don't have the ability to do so. We're working on a solution for this, but there's no estimated time of resolution right now.

Please give the team that created the ticket time to work on a solution to get you logged back in. We also suggest waiting about 72 hours, then trying to reset your password again. If that doesn't work, check in with us in a few days to see if we're able to reset the password.

If you need help with anything else, let us know. Thank you for contacting the Community Forums team.

Once we're able to reset passwords again, we'll be happy to do that for you, btpaps.

Please give the team that created the ticket the chance to get this resolved for you. If they're unable to get you logged in, reach back out to us here to see if we can reset your password.

Thank you again for contacting the Community Forums team.

Was this ever resolved? I’m facing the same issue and haven’t been able to access my sbcglobal.net account since end of Dec. I have a ticket raised and was told that someone from technical team would call to help reset password, but I haven’t heard from anyone. And each time I call to inquire about ticket, I’m told that someone will call me back within three days. Just curious whether you had any luck?

We are recommending that customers wait a 72 hour period then attempt to reset the password. If you are able to reset the password and get in, awesome! If not, please reach back out to us so we can assist further.

OK - Thanks for the update @btpaps - I wondered whether you were still waiting (like me). Yes, it’s incredibly frustrating… it’s been 4 weeks now without access. Unbelievable.

We're here to help get you into your e-mails, jeeprubi392!

We suggest using and checking if you can login to Currently to view your e-mails, as the website is supported by AT&T and we are able to determine if any present issues are with your account, or with how it connects to outside servers. However, if you are using 3rd Party Email Clients - this would be considered any other website or application outside of Currently - you may need to look into Open Authentication or Secure Mail Key to ensure your e-mail account stays synced properly and is able to be logged into.

Open Authentication is a security measure we put in place that encrypts your e-mail and password when using 3rd Party e-mail clients. We have an article regarding OAuth that states what applications work with this security system.

If the 3rd Party e-mail client you are using is not in that list, you will need to Create a Secure Mail Key. This is a security measure that encrypts your password, and you are able to create and manage it via myAT&T. You will then use your Secure Mail Key as your password when logging into any 3rd Party programs or applications, while your login to any AT&T sites will stay the same.

If you are needing the information for server settings, we suggest using IMAP for your 3rd Party e-mail clients.

Let us know if this helps!
