att.net mail login

When Att disassociated itself from Yahoo earlier this year I was led to believe that I would gain access to my att.net emails through my "start.att.net" browser home page.  Recently I logged in to my home page and when I clicked to access my email I was sent to a Yahoo login page.  Was this a change that I wasn't notified about? or what?

Hi all,

 

Our teams are aware of the rerouting issue and I myself, have experienced it when logging into my .net account. You can still log into your email, just make sure you are entering it in it's entirety. 

 

I am sorry for the experience but I can assure you it is being addressed. I will update everyone on this thread once it's resolved.

That doesn't look like a yahoo email page.  It looks like ATT's login to get to the att/yahoo email.  Indeed, look at the logo at the top.  It's not just Yahoo, it's ATT|Yahoo.  Did you try logging in?  When you do you should see the same logo near the top of the email page.

 

Note, yahoo was sold to verizon, but yahoo continues to be the email service provider for ATT, so nothing should have changed from your point of view.

When Att disassociated from Yahoo and I would login to my att home page, all I had to do was click on the email icon to get my emails.  It was just recently that this Yahoo page opened.  I tried to login on this Yahoo page and I wasn't allowed with the pw I use for att.net.  I tried with the old pw from before the Yahoo security breach and I could access my email.  This page didn't open every time and so I became suspicious.  I just changed my pw AGAIN and the Yahoo page hasn't open yet but if it does then I think something fishy is going on.

What do you mean by this?  AT&T is still using Yahoo as the mail provider for their residential customers.

What I mean is....I never had a Yahoo Account.  My old homepage was "att.yahoo.com" (which was not the same as yahoo.com) I would login to that to fetch my att.net emails.  When att started the homepage "start.att.net" I would do the same thing to fetch my emails.  I never had a Yahoo account other than the one associated with the homepage and email and I NEVER had to login to a separate window.  For example, if I went to yahoo.com I couldn't access my emails without registering with a new password.  So, to sum this up....I never had to login twice to fetch my emails.

Ok, so "disassociated" for you means that ATT now has their own start.att.net home page.  Fine, at least now we know what you meant by that word.  So yes, att has their own home page -- such that it is - "disassociated" from yahoo.

 

You should be able to log into start.att.net and then when you click the email icon you shouldn't be prompted for a login again.   Theoretically ATT's login should "stick" for up to 2 weeks if you select that during the login.  But for some apparently it doesn't.  It doesn't for me for example.  But in my case it's probably a cookie or javascript problem that I'm too lazy to investigate.  It's not worth the effort because I don't use the webmail that much.

I am having nothing but problems trying to get to my att.net e mails. I have had to join a community and everything. I can't even get my att page to come up to try and sign in. This is so stupid. I am so tired gonna quit trying it's confuseing and I a sick. I can't stand this.

@suesue1, unlike the situation several months ago, when the post you've replied to was made, there have been actual changes to the e-mail configuration in the past 30 days.  There are many posts about it.  Hopefully one of those newer posts may be of help?

I have been going (from Chrome homepage) to start.att to access my email.  My firewall is  now constantly interrupting saying invalid site  without certification. Is start still the way to log on and check the email or is there a way the firewall would find more acceptable?

 

What is the safest way to log on for email.  I want to keep Chrome as the home page.

I suggest that in situations like these you try a different browser at least to see if it behaves differently.  Some of these problems are due to cookies so trying another browser with it's own set of cookies (none really the first time you use it) may indicate that your preferred browser has a cookie problem or something else (account problem). 

 

If the test browser does behave correctly then your preferred browser does have a cookie problem.  So in that case clear all its cookies, or if you don't want to be so radical and know how, clear only the att cookies.

I get emails telling me my bellsouth.net (now viewed on Yahoo) is going to be deleted unless I reply to an email. The email return addresses are all for the UK. This is my husbands and my main email address. Has anyone heard of this or is it a scam, that someone has heard of. We did not request the closure of our bellsouth.net email account
