att.net login and passwords

This process is ridiculous, comes suddenly and frequently, gives no warning just when I'm in the middle of an important email. I have now changed my password from within my email for the millionth time. When and how am I going to be asked/required to change AGAIN? When I go through the "forgot password" process, ask for a code to another email IF I have access to it, when I come back to the screen to enter it, I must type it in, not having copy/pasted it from my other email. It often still does not work. I'm switching screens/tabs endlessly, getting so frustrated, typing accurately is an unrealistic expectation. And this is from a desktop with keyboard and mouse, trying to get in on my smartphone is a whole different complicated/unreliable/frustrating experience while wasting online time. This I think has started with the NEW AT&T. I want the old one back!

Greetings @awfullyannoyed

I understand your frustration. Having to enter, or worse change, your password that often must be very annoying and time consuming. I do hope I can bring you some good news, as I believe the problem can be easily fixed.

It sounds as if your session has expired, and in order to correct these problems please delete the cache and cookies of your web browser, or use a different one. For most modern browsers, pressing Ctrl-Shift-Delete will bring you to the correct menu option where you can erase them. Afterwards please try again, it may require you to enter the password one last time, but going forward it should be fixed permanently.

Please let us know how it goes. Have a fantastic day!

I somehow got back in without clearing the cache in FF v55 and haven't been required to start a new session again, but expect to soon. How often is this supposed to happen?

How are multiple devices affected? I have a desktop and surf a LOT (who doesn't?!). Also now have started to use internet more on my smartphone, but I do NOT text. Asking for a confirmation code to be sent to another email or text'd and even worse to a phone call is nuts. You're in the middle of an important task then have to stop and login AGAIN. The security questions should be enough. How often is the session expiration set for now?

I don't know what the "welcome to the new AT&T", but I liked the previous one just fine Everytime you redesign the interface, cram more stuff on the screen, it's just nuts. Also, since yahoo was sold, how is this going to affect ATT customers on the older, free accounts?

Hello again @awfullyannoyed,

I’m glad to hear you managed to access the site again, without having to go through such an arduous process. If you happened to be using a different browser than before, that could explain why the problem disappeared. However you should not encounter it again, most likely this was an isolated incident and going forward, every time you enter the password it should grant you access without difficulties (only once in about a month or so)

The recent Yahoo! purchase won’t affect our customers in any way; your services will remain the same as they have always been. The only difference is, in order to access your email account you will need to visit www.att.net instead of the Yahoo! homepage. No other changes will have an effect in your email.

Again thank you for your continued loyalty to AT&T, and I hope your experience with us continues being seamless and effort-free.

Sincerely,

Rafael, AT&T Community Specialist

I just got a message to login again, confirming my account. This is NOT a month. Barely a week since the last time. I definitely made a note of my new password, but the system said invalid, sent me on another round robbin of codes, etc. Didn't work with a code sent at an alternate email account either. I closed the tab, reopened and selected the last session in my history, got in, made some changes (create and delete msg), so I'm 'in' without having to confirm and change anything.
This is a royal pain.

I got two notices that someone was declined trying to use my att.net account. The notice said you had declined both attempts. How do I change my password for regular att.net email?

Since my Email app seems to no longer to be able to connect to the Att email server, I am using the att.net web email. But it has been for a long time now when I logged-in I was asked if I wanted to stay connected for two weeks, and I'd click yes. But, over the last 4-5 months if I close my browser, when I later open it I am asked to Log-in, every time. I am not getting two weeks; I am not getting a even two hours. Same with either Firefox or Chrome.

Now, in the last couple of days, once I log-in for the att.net  request, a new log-in request pops up from Yahoo!

@BAFlier1 - make sure you are keeping the cookies for the site.  The browsers have settings on how to handle cookies, i.e, keep forever. keep until you quit the browser (session cookies), don't accept cookies at all.  You want to keep these "forever".
