AT&T New Mail

New_Email.jpgStarting September 5th, 2018 all .net ‘webmail’ customers will start to receive notifications about an upcoming email upgrade starting in October.  This new mail experience only affects ‘desktop’ webmail users and will include a more responsive ‘search’ capability, easier to use ‘settings’ menu, overall improved views, and much more!

FAQ:

When will I upgrade?

AT&T New Mail will begin to rollout to AT&T users October 2018.

Do I have to upgrade?

Yes, the planned upgrade will affect all desktop webmail users.

What is changing?

Only the user interface for ‘desktop’ webmail.  The new email upgrade is designed to take advantage of today’s more modern and supported browsers.

What must I do to prepare for the upgrade?

The upgrade is simple - nothing in your email, folders, notes, calendar, or address book is changing. Your mailbox is only upgrading to a new and improved look and feel.

If you’re using FireFox, Chrome, and/or a Mac based browser, just sit back, and relax. If you’re currently using Internet Explorer and or a Microsoft Edge browser older than 15.x then please upgrade your browser to a supported browser.

I WILL NOT change my browser to Firefox or Chrome, I intend to use as I am now IE or Edge, I am the customer and you do not tell me what to do, the reason you want people to switch to Firefox or Chrome is that you will earn money form it. I use on a regular basis Norton's Identity safe for all my passwords and I have about 200 sperate password sites, it does not function right on Foxfire or Chrome or Edge as it doe sin IE, so I need this working right. Like I said I am the customer I am paying you for the service you have no right to order me what to use PERIOD.

Yes I want the spam removed from this new and exciting email we are going to.

Too much spam with adds all over the page and that is not right nor should us being the customers paying for these services and yes we pay our phone bills, internet, etc. so we are paying customers so remove the spam

I use both the webmail interface and Thunderbird, and I hope I'll be able to continue to do so.

On thing I've noticed is that messages from AT&T about mail invariably break in some way in Thunderbird.  Often, it's because the way graphics are formatted hides the actual useful links.

In this case, your announcement mail has two links: the "visit our website" link, and the "AT&T Forum" link.  Both of these fail (400 - Bad Request) if I follow them from within Thunderbird, but work if I follow them from within the Web interface.

You may want to review how you compose email messages, as it appears whatever tool you're using creates non-HTML-compliant content.  If it's the actual AT&T/Yahoo compose tool, I'm concerned you may be causing me and all other users to create email that won't work in some email readers!

I would like you to improve your filtering of unwanted emails. I am getting more than 40 junk mail a day and have tried every thing in presently available options in filtering, but they are going through.

Commenting that when these exciting new changes happen, a confusing process at best, and last change in 2017 resulted in unrecoverable loss of a few years emails that previously were in place and easily accessed! So if there is any way to avoid customers losing things, having to go thru intricate maze to recover, or with no apparent recoverability....

anything you can do to avoid this for customers would be great. Many of us customers are older and aren't upgrading our equipment every year, so any new exciting changes, if they could provide retrofitting so that those of us with not the latest and greatest can be unaffected.... would be great. By the way I did follow the prompts last year, and paid for geek help and still lost those emails and not recoverable. Thank you for anything you can do to accommodate this very honest assessment of customer experience when very exciting ATT and Yahoo changes occur!! :oD

Is it going to be more  reliable?  I get several different error messages on a regular basis.  Also, it doesn't handle errors in typing in password.  If I fix the error on the second try, it says it can't get my email.  I have to refresh to make it work.  Irritating.

Also, I wish you would dump Yahoo.  I never look at their news since it is so biased leftist.

Make sure you don't lose my older emails, too.

I think that will be great because at this time I'm not getting the speed I am paying for and I take the speed

test at late hours and during the day. Then I take a photo of it and my internet does not even come close

to what I am paying for. So it will be nice to get something from ATT that (WE) the buyer pays for.

That would be nice to get faster service. I don't get the speed that I am paying for now. I do the speed

test 2 or 3 times at night and during the day and it's a lot lower than what I should be getting. I take

photos of it also. HP computer company showed me how to see what I was paying for and

how low my real speed is. At&t didn't do a thing. When they check it sometimes it comes out better

but look who is checking it. I had HP to teach me some things so I know we don't get the speed

we are paying for at this time. And all the people here in this senior living center get taken because

they don't know this.
