ATT email contacts have disappeared

All of a sudden, my email stopped auto-filling emails.  I tried all the online suggestions for restoring the contacts... however, the alleged action tab to restore from a backup does not exist.  I did not change anything no have a security breach.  I have been given the run around from several 800 #s I've tried to call.  I desperately need help... I've had this email for over 20 years!

We can certainly help with that email issue, @fstoler.

Are you accessing your email by logging into ATT.net, or are you using an email client such as Outlook? If you haven’t yet, log in to your email at ATT.net and follow the steps on this walkthrough. You may be able to restore your contacts through the webmail version, and it sounds like a different process than what you've already attempted (there is no Action tab in this process).

If you are using an email client, we may have to refer you to the client developer for specific help. If you're still can’t find that Action tab, check to make sure your client has been updated to the latest version.

Let us know if this helps you restore your contacts, @fstoler, we are here to help.

You do understand I already did that... there is no action tab to restore contacts.

That is correct @fstoler. As per the link I provided, you shouldn't need to access an action tab. Here are those steps:

  1. Select Contacts Contacts icon (it’s to the right of your inbox).
  2. Select Deleted Contacts.
  3. Check the box beside each contact to restore.
  4. Select Restore and then to confirm, select Restore again. The contacts are returned to your AT&T Contacts.
  5. Select Done.

To attempt to restore the contacts from a backup:

  1. Select Contacts Contacts icon and then Deleted Contacts.
  2. Choose Restore from backup.
  3. Select the date and time you want to restore your contacts to. If there isn't a list of dates available, we couldn't find any contacts from your address book to restore.
  4. Select Restore. You’ll see a confirmation if your contacts were restored successfully.

You shouldn't have to worry about an "action tab." But again, if you're using an email client, such as Outlook, we may have to refer you to the client developer.

If there's a specific step in this process that is hanging you up, please let us know.

Again, for the record... there is no option to select DELETE Contacts.  There is no action item to RESTORE.  Not sure which version of yahoo/att mail you are looking at, but trust me... tried that already.  I think there is a problem internally with the system.

It keeps saying I don't have any contacts... which is impossible.  I've had the email acct for over 20 yrs.

Hmm, that is definitely odd @fstoler. If the Deleted Contacts option does not appear for you under Contacts, we'd recommend clearing your cache and cookies, relaunching your web browser and trying to find it again. If it still does not appear once you've done that, please use the "Give feedback" option so we can investigate this further. You can find the Give feedback option under the settings icon. Here's a screenshot:

Beyond that, how have you saved your contacts in the past? Have you exclusively used ATT.net? Or did you access them via an email client, such as Outlook?

I just did that.  I do not have my contacts backed up anywhere... I never thought it would be an issue.  I stopped using outlook a long time ago b/c I was having too many issues with it not syncing with other calendars.

I am still in desperate need of assistance.  I keep getting routed to numbers for support that are looking for account #s. I no longer have any ATT paid services, but have the free email....
