Reset clock on Internet Air

The clock on my Internet Air base unit is off by 4 hours.  How can I get the correct time to display?

We just went through daylight savings time and my wifi hub for air didn't correct itself.  I am in WI but apparently my current IP address says I'm in Detroit, MI.  Not only is my time off but my location too.  Any time we have a power outage, our location changes.  Since signing up we have been to LA, Oklahoma, Chicago, New York, Ohio, now MI all without leaving the comfort of home.  Any ideas??

The physical location that web sites and services place you at is determine via IP Geolocation, a superstition of reading tea leaves, portents and horoscopes and should never, ever be used by anyone for authentication, or anything else, really.  If you get a reasonably static public IP, or a dynamic from a small pool that is geographically restricted, it can get to be fairly reliable and serve a useful purpose for convenience only.  (Some services use the fact that a device, e.g. a cell phone with a GPS, connects via Wi-Fi, and a Public IP Address and remembers that in a database somewhere. Some ISPs provide a feed for the services that is more or less accurate, but typically not very precise, e.g. perhaps only the country.)

However, AT&T Internet Air gives you a Dynamically assigned Public IP that seems to come from a nationwide pool, and thus the IP Geolocation for that will never be all that accurate.  That may cause issues with Streaming services that rely on IP Geolocation for geofencing.

The clock on the All-Fi Gateway doesn't seem to have been all that well thought out.

That sounds accurate to me.  We use the Hulu streaming service and have nothing but issues at times where we can't get our local channels.  Have to call their customer service to get our location reset.  Kind of sorry we have Air.  Had we known before hand about the possible issues, we wouldn't have switched.  Thanks for the insight.

How do I re-set it manually?

Hey @bowmelam, we understand that your All-Fi hub is not showing the correct time. Let's get the help you need.

 

We recommend trying a factory reset, this may help force the hardware to check for updates.  Make sure to write down your custom setting, like your static IP address, if you have one, or Wi-Fi network name (SSID), as these will also be reset.

Hey everyone, I figured out how to fix the clock. Press the red button on the back for 15 seconds, and it's going to reset and fix the time.
