Possible, yes as two separate accounts...

ATT AIR is cellular internet only account.

You would need to keep your Uverse IPTV account and all equipment including the gateway but will need to call to cancel the internet service.

What internet speed do you currently have?

50 up via vdsl. I was assured that i could get uverse via the new att air gateway.

Nope, Uverse IPTV service is strictly hardwired VDSL requiring a VRAD (Video Ready Access Device) FTTN  or direct fiber FTTP of which either connects directly to the Video Hub for your market.

ATT AIR is FTTCT or Fiber To The Cell Tower with no connection to the market Video Hub.

If you had DirecTv Stream, an internet streaming service, then yes you should be able to have the tv service using ATT AIR as DirecTv Stream works with ANY ISP service that has at least internet 25 or above.

Nope. U-verse TV uses multicast technology to deliver IPTV thru the AT&T network, which has been customized throughout the network down to each house, an expensive network design. No such capability exists on the cellular network.

Maybe they were referring to other DirecTV offerings such as their streaming service (unsure).
