Why is the website for ATT always down?

Every month I encounter the same problem.  it takes hours or days for the system to be able to make a payment.  this month, once again, I have been trying for the last THREE DAYS to pay online.  all I get is the same message.... "please give us a moment, were almost there"  well you haven't been there and I have been trying consistently now for the past four and a half hours... I need the internet working before I get home today.  it is imperative.  also not happy that I will be STUCK WITH ANOTHER DISCONNECT FEE.   I think you do this on purpose to charge more at this point.  its ridiculus that a company whose main job is to communicate doesn't know how to do that.  also.  cant get a phone number... everything just stops.  also cant get into chat... no connection.  this is awful!

lame answer from AT&T. it's not an issue with log-in,. it's an issue with their website. keeps loading but never comes up when trying to access account info. this can go on for days.

Have you tried another browser for comparison to see if you get the same behavior?

I also was stuck with that annoying "please give us a moment, were almost there" page... (on Safari)

So I tried using Firefox and... viola! Success! 🙂

I know Firefox works, I'll try Opera or Seamonkey next month and avoid the frustration with Safari.

A few days ago I could not log in with Firefox but could log in with Edge.  The next day I could log in with Firefox.  Today, the website and Firefox are still playing nice.

Please note that the original post is from Aug. 2017 so we know this is an ongoing problem.  I don't see any rhyme or reason but it IS accessible depending on what browser you're using, the time of day and if you hold your tongue just right.

The web site has been up, so it's a problem specific to you. Have you tried to access from different devices?

No your web design "experts" are keytowing to M$ and not the more secure browsers.

I LOATHE Edge, it worked, but I don't trust M$ security.

Fix the site for cross platform, this frustration will ultimately lose customers!

And, stop blaming customers for your web design teams inability to do cross-platform!

You're correct.  This is LAME.

AT&T says 'Seconds count', then the little wheel keeps spinning when you hit PAY BILL.

Totally defunct today, morning and evening.

Maybe accounting will notice the dip in receivables and ask IT why?

If it's a problem specific to that other customer, add me to the list.   Does IT block Chrome users now and prefer that we use different browsers?   What kind of business are you running?   Certainly not a technologically adept and adaptive one.   If your objective is to make it easy to pay bills paperless from any device with almost any browser this is a FAIL.

sorry bout that.   Mark

Guess it's more accurate to say that the problem doesn't affect everyone. I also use Chrome & don't have any problems accessing the site. No idea what could be causing the problem.

My Firefox ESR browser is sitting there spinning "Please give us a moment. We're almost there!"  The QA for this web site leaves much to be desired.

  • Get a WAN emulator
  • Add testing with the ESR version of Firefox

Every other web site that I am using (including ones created by my development teams) are working great with the ESR version of Firefox.

All browsers act differently for me, some I can log in BUT NONE, including their app will let me look at my account, history or billing. This has not been going on for hours, days or even weeks, I have been encountering this annoyance since May. I call to pay and they text me a link (that leads to the same site that doesn't allow me to pay or even view my bill)… then I am on hold for 10mins, then on the phone for another 5 entering all my payment information, confirming my identity and so on. I call and ask (in May) what is going on and they explain something about different billing for phone/tv and said it would take a couple weeks to be up and running and yet, here I am.

This is a terrible response.  He didn’t say he had trouble logging in.  Your website never works.  I have been trying to do anything for the last 20 mins to only be greeted by blank white screens.  This includes your AT&T app, Safari web, Chrome web, and Firefox web.  For such a big company one would think getting a basic website to work would be on a list of priorities.
