U-verse Bundle Bill Paid but showing unpaid since 2019 - cannot get new AT&T services!!!

I am begging for some relief here - going on since 2019!! U-verse Bundle Bill Paid but showing unpaid since 2019 - cannot get new AT&T services!!! I have confirmation payment numbers - I need to get my internet ordered and I cannot. This has been going on forever. I disputed it because I returned my equipment AT&T never received (cannot find that exact receipt right now) - but because I was buying a house and trying to protect my credit - the balance was completely paid through the collection agency on 020722 (confirmed as of today also 080522) - AT&T recalled the account on 031522 - but still have not cleared my account. And - I cannot login to my U-verse account - apparently I have like 3-4 different IDs - so I spent all morning merging ids/accounts etc - and AT&T will only show me what they say I owe when I try to order internet online - when I am logged into my regular AT&T account it show no payment due - this has been going on for years (oh yea - I never got my Visa Reward card from 2017...) Please help me AT&T!!!! I have waited for hours on hold or just cannot get a live person to speak to. Please please AT&T - this is ridiculous - you have my money! Do you want me to stay with another provider?

$194.85 is what I paid and is not pennies, Constructive! lol - I have excellent credit - this is ridiculous.

So, you want me to pay what AT&T is saying I owe $212.63? Really? Wow. Pennies????

This is sincerely disturbing. I actually thought this might be a decent forum - but if AT&T allows abuse here - I don't think this is "constructive".

I hope that AT&T will see this post and consider how their employee's opinions can be dead wrong.

.this is a customer populated forum not at&t they dont read the forums , i see no abuse in my post just facts from being in these forums for 14 years.

While AT&T employees do look at forum posts from time to time, we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T in any official capacity with our responses and do so on our own time unpaid and off the clock

as a good AT&T employee - you must love your job and get paid well to keep working on behalf of AT&T while off duty. Good luck.

@hc_1  Constructive only stated the facts on what happens when any company sells their debt to a collection agency (saying that agency paid "pennies on the dollar" to AT&T, not that you paid pennies) and I sure don't see any abuse.  But I can see where this thread could end up getting into that area if it continues the way it's going.

So take a deep breath and let's see if there's any way to get AT&T back involved (even though most companies consider the issue closed when they sell the debt).

Fill out the form HERE.

Ignore the stated purpose on the form.  This will be responded to within 24 hrs by someone from the Executive Care team at AT&T and they may be able to get things done.  Once you submit, make sure you're ready to get a call from a number that isn't familiar.  If you miss it your chances of calling back and getting a successful result goes down.

Good luck!

this is straight from experians FAQ

Once your debt has been sold to a debt purchaser you owe them the money, not the original creditor. ... For example, they cannot add on interest and charges to your debt unless they are permitted to do so in the terms of your original credit agreement. A ‘debt purchaser’ buys up debts to collect rather than chasing debts owned by other companies.

The benefits of selling the debt are that the creditor usually has no more involvement in collecting it, and they get some money back straight away

Hardly the first time facts, as they exist in the real world, are not what someone want to hear.

Never the less... if AT&T sold your debt to a debt collector they did not get the full value of the debt paid to them.  They sold it for less.  That way when the debt collector collects the full amount that you owed AT&T they still make a profit. Otherwise it would not be worth the debt collector's time to try to get money from you.

I would suggest you not be that rude if you do speak to an AT&T employee. Otherwise, why would they want to help you.

If they sold my debt how could they recall it on March 15, 2022? After I paid in full what IC system confirmed today I paid in full. Documentable. Whoever sent the form thank you. I don’t think I’m abusive here I think I’m frustrated and reaching out for help. I don’t need to take advantage of anybody I don’t believe in it I am an ethical person and a person of integrity. And I don’t like being taken advantage of by anybody because I work hard for my money. I think whoever constructive is and whoever the other people are who are quoting Experian they clearly didn’t understand what is happening. I believe IC system must be related to AT&T in someway or how could AT&T recall a debt that’s been in collections? If the debt was truly sold how could it be recalled? Three years later after it was paid in full according to the balance on the statement.? And how many times have people returned equipment that is claimed never had to have been received? This is happened so many times to me with spectrum AT&T, and when I physically go to one of these places and get a receipt and they still say they didn’t receive it can you explain that. I will recall this post if possible because I don’t want to be part of this kind of very negative forum. Again to the person who sent the form thank you.
