Switched to Direct TV. AT&T cell already just wanted to add Internet

So confused. Not a tech wiz, at all. Changed from Comcast TV/Internet to Direct TV only . Recently wanted all AT&T to simplify. Already an AT&T cell customer. Just wanted to add internet. No clear answers by customer svc. Now have Homebase, and Direct tv . Is this same? Best choice? Is it not same company? Am I billed through wireless data like cell or what? Lost and AT&T not clear.
