Hey, @Melissa70, we understand how debilitating going without internet can be, let's see what we can do to get it back up and running!
Just to clarify, you hooked up a 3rd party router to your gateway, and after resetting that 3rd party router, your internet is out? If so, we'd recommend disconnecting all the 3rd party equipment from your gateway and Factory Resetting the gateway.
If you are wanting to go for a 3rd party set up, we'd recommend doing the previous step, and then reading through our article on IP Passthrough to find out how to set up a 3rd party router on your network properly.
